I would trade Maybin for the right bullpen arm.

I would trade LoMo for the right rotation arm.

I would not trade LoMo for a reliever, probably not even Soria, but then again, much like Coghlan in the offseason, if the long term future isn't in the infield because of an organizational decision, maybe trading him to a team that values him as an infielder is a good call.

Are we really going to give up on Maybin to get a bullpen arm?

            I hate that idea.

If it's a club controlled guy, yeah. Rent a player, no.

I think regardless of where we head this season, you have to start rounding the club into pretty clear 2011/12 focus. Making some calls on the outfield and the rotation is where you start. I'm not crazy about Cody being the long term CF, but if Cam gets you Bell or Soria, you do it.

Now this basically hinges on us deciding to spend some money, but I can't imagine Bobby V coming on board without some assurances payroll is going to go up for 2011 and not just 2012.

I don't think the long term of the pen is much of a problem. Got alot of talented big arm in the minors (Koehler, Ceda, Marinez, Jennings). Also VandenHurk who I believe in and of course what ever is decided about Sanabia.

If 1 of those 4 "big arms" works out it's a win. Can't hang that much hope on internal bullpen arms developing. That's how you end up where we are now. Go get someone proven, hope those 4 + Leo & new guy give you a super pen.

Don't disagree. However, don't necessarily think that Cam is a long term slam dunk answer either.

If you can cash out now on him, you do it. Don't shop him for the highest offer and take it, but if someone wants him bad enough, I wouldn't say no.

Anyway I'd like to see if Coghlan can play 3rd Base for next year. LoMo to Left, Gaby stays at 1st.
If they keep Uggla, that has to be the plan. And then when Uggla cashes out 2011 FA Coghlan finally gets to 2B, with Dominguez taking over 3rd.

                        ------

I wouldn't trade Cam because of our lack of CF depth, but I think you can trade Gaby or Lomo for the right pitcher. It all comes down to scarcity. You can find corner players. You build with pitching and up the middle.

                          I agree.

But I'd still rather trade Gaby than Lomo any day of the week.

I guess it's more, who needs a first baseman? Seattle and Pittsburgh comes to mind off the bat.

actually not - decades start with the "one" year and end with the "zero" year. That's why all that millenium crap, was just that, CRAP, as the new millenium really didn't start until Jan 1st, 2001.
