would you rather have Lamb or Peterson? Peterson was on the 40 already and will be better than Lamb. Hell I'm a lefty hitter I might OPS higher than Lamb.

I'd rather have Lamb because Petersen is still developing (as witnessed by his .672ops in New Orleans) and thus should be playing every day, which certainly isn't going to happen in the bigs.
Calling up Petersen right now is stupid now and stupid long-term. Calling up Lamb is only stupid now.

because Peterson was so productive when he was called up, right?
I'd rather have Lamb up and suck when he pinch hits than a young player who is going to suck just as bad. Especially when the younger player can develop some more with everyday ABs in aaa.

Scotty Cousins also has a future with this team.
You are overreacting about a guy who gets 3 PAs a week. Calling up a legitimate prospect for this role is fucking retarded.
Yeah, Donnie Murphy could be called up and he'd likely be a better option, but it's a really minor issue.
But hey, there's a couple other threads you haven't said something about Mike Lamb in. Can you please post something in the General Music Discussion thread about him, please?poop

also what future does scott cousins have with this team? if our outfield for the foreseeable future is coghlan/maybin/stanton, and we still haven't traded ross, and petersen is ahead of him on the depth chart, and morrison is likely giong to play left field, where is the future?Originally posted by Madman81Most of the people in the world being dumb is not a requirement for you to be among their ranks.

Coghlan is an infielder. Ross is gone by the end of next year at the latest. Morrison's future is at 1B eventually. You hate Maybin and think he's the worst player in the world.
Peterson is ahead of him on the depth chart. Ok. Cameron Maybin was ahead of Mike Stanton on the depth chart and somehow that didn't stay the same forever.
The point is, eventually there may be a spot for him. That he may be blocked in the future is no reason to give up on his development.
You hate Mike Lamb, and it's turning your brain into mush. You can never have too much depth.
Plus, Scotty's been worse than you think Mike Lamb is at AAA. There's no reason to call him up for a handful of opportunities a week. Look how well that worked out for Bryan Peterson.Last edited by Bobbob1313; 06-18-2010, 03:28 PM.poop

it's been said many teams that this team has no plans to move coghlan back to the infield. every one of us sees him as an infielder but they don't and that's all that matters. why is lomo's future necessary at 1b when gaby is producing fine, fielding fine, etc.? i don't think maybin is the worstp layer in the world (mike lamb is) but again, it doesn't matter what i think. obviously he's a big part of our future and they're going to give him as many opportunities as possible given that we traded a future HOFer for him.
you know what you're getting with mike lamb. you're getting a guy who is a lefty hitter who's going to OPS under .600 and who - twice - the other 29 general managers didn't want for free. do you know how scott cousins is going to hit in the majors? maybe he comes up and you catch lightning in a bottle. for someone who's going to get a handful of ABs a week, i'd rather call up the guy that could either be shitty or could potentially be good than the guy we know is shitty.Originally posted by Madman81Most of the people in the world being dumb is not a requirement for you to be among their ranks.

That's not really the point I'm arguing right now. I'm arguing that bringing up Scotty Cousins or Logan Morrison right now like you and Swift, respectively, have suggested is a bad long term move brought on by frustration over recent losses.
If Mike Lamb comes up and he sucks, oh well. He's getting into 4 games a week and it doesn't matter.
If Cousins or Morrison comes up and he sucks, that's probably detrimental to his success. Best case scenario for this team is that Cousins and Morrison become a everyday MLers, regardless of other depth. That's not going to happen by being the 2nd pinch hitter on the team.
Guess what, MK. Most major league pinch hitters blow. We have a good one in Wes Helms, which is why even if Mike Lamb sucks, he'll likely be used in low leverage situations 3-4 times a week. It's such a non issue that you are being fucking retarded about.
I would agree with you that calling up Donnie Murphy or Hector Luna would be better, but it's really not a big deal so I'm not going to post in 20 threads about it. But calling up Scotty Cousins or Logan Morrison or Bryan Peterson or anyone else who might have a future on this team right now is idiotic and kneejerk.Last edited by Bobbob1313; 06-18-2010, 03:47 PM.poop

it's not a non-issue, it's just a microcosm of the shittiness that is the general management of this team. and that is what's so frustrating.Originally posted by Madman81Most of the people in the world being dumb is not a requirement for you to be among their ranks.
