  • Beat the Streak : Prospect of the Day : Jake Smolinski

So each day, we'll be picking a different Marlins organizational player in the "Beat the Streak" game on MiLB.com. If the batter gets a hit, the streak continues. It's fairly easy to follow and we'll make the rules that you can only use a player every 10 days or so.

MiLB record: 69, Joe Wilhoit, Wichita Witches, 1919
MLB record: 56, Joe DiMaggio, New York Yankees, 1941
    SoFla's record: 2 (twice)
    Yesterday's pick: Matt Dominguez
    Result: 1/3 rbi bb
    Current Streak: 2

The streak hit 2 as third base prospect Matt Dominguez got one of 5 Jacksonville hits last night. For Friday we go with struggling prospect Jake Smolinski. In 164 at bats, he's hitting .238/.282/.335 with just 1 homerun and 9 walks while striking out 34 times. Jake and the Hammerheads go up against Chris Archer and the Daytona Cubs. Archer is 2-1 with a 4.23era in 38.1 innings. Right-handed hitters are batting .250 off him.
