Petersen, Badenhop Optioned, Pinto to DL; Lamb, Buente, and Tankersley Recalled

The Florida Marlins have optioned outfielder Bryan Petersen and right-handed pitcher Burke Badenhop to Triple-A New Orleans. Left-handed pitcher Renyel Pinto has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left hip strain.
The Florida Marlins have purchased the contract of infielder Mike Lamb and have recalled pitchers Taylor Tankersley and Jay Buente from New Orleans.

The Marlins did some overhauling of their bullpen today. They called up LHP Taylor Tankersley and RHP Jay Buente from Class AAA New Orleans and demoted struggling RHP Burke Badenhop.

LHP Renyel Pinto was placed on the disabled list with a left hip strain, and infielder Mike Lamb was recalled from New Orleans.

Lamb replaces OF Bryan Petersen, who was optioned to New Orleans last night. Lamb will be the Marlins’ lefty bat off the bench — a role he struggled in earlier this year before he was demoted to New Orleans.

Badenhop got off to a terrific start but suddenly lost his sinker ball and slider. He posted a 10.38 ERA in eight appearances this month, including two runs allowed last night in Atlanta’s six-run seventh inning.

Pinto has a 2.30 ERA this year as an effective reliever despite his propensity for walking or hitting the lead runner and providing unwanted drama.

Buente, 26, is 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 19 appearances for New Orleans. This is his first major league call-up.

Well, with this move, it means the 40-man roster is full, therefore something else will have to be done once they are ready to call up Mike Stanton.

It'll probably be designated for assignment. They would have ten days to figure out what to do with it. Hopefully it'll be sent down with the Hopper after those ten days.

Boner isn't much of a pinch hitter and they probably don't want to subject him to sitting on the bench every game for the most part
