So each day, we'll be picking a different Marlins organizational player in the "Beat the Streak" game on MiLB.com. If the batter gets a hit, the streak continues. It's fairly easy to follow and we'll make the rules that you can only use a player every 10 days or so.
MiLB record: 69, Joe Wilhoit, Wichita Witches, 1919
MLB record: 56, Joe DiMaggio, New York Yankees, 1941
Yesterday's pick: Mike Stanton
Result: DNP
In the midst of a little funk, Mike Stanton had the night off last night and therefore didn't allow our streak to get off on a good note. Tonight we go with the Marlins 2008 first round pick, Kyle Skipworth. His struggles in his first 2 pro seasons have been well documented but it looks like he's beginning to come around. Through May 20th, he is hitting .290/.340/.543 with 8 homeruns. Skip and the Grasshoppers go up against right hander Tanner Bushue and the Lexington Legends tonight. Bushue is 2-2 with a 2.45era in 8 starts. Lefties are hitting just .164 off of him.
