I also heard that in chain stores, like Sports Authority, the Marlins logo merchandise was the #1 seller among all team sports last quarter, which is pretty incredible.

This is different but not unheard of. Most teams allow the starting pitcher to chose the uniform (I believe that the Marlins did this up until this year). The only other team I know of that has set days when uniforms are worn are the Astros at home. The wear the pinstripes Monday-Friday, white jerseys with red hats on Saturday and red jersey's and black hats on Sunday.

To be fair (and accurate) the Marlins have set weekend jerseys for a while. "Los" Marlins were the Saturday thing and the black alternates have been a Friday jersey, off and on, basically since its debut.

Having seen the uniforms for two months, I have a few comments:

Ranking the jerseys:

1) Home white
2) Road gray
3) Orange alternate
4) Black alternate

Ranking the combinations used thus far:

1) Home white/black cap/orange sox



Good balance of the orange and black.

2) Home white/black cap/black sox
3) Road jersey/black cap/black sox
4) Home white/orange cap/orange sox
5) Orange alternate/black cap/black sox

Really want to see:

1) Orange alternate/orange cap/orange sox
2) Road gray/black cap/orange sox

That should actually be the standard on the road.

I really thought the orange cap/sox would look great with the home whites, but there is too much black on the script/numbers. It looks weird.



It's weird.

The orange alternate needs to have white numbers with blue drop shadows compared to the current black number w/ blue drop shadows. With the white MARLINS on the front, it just looks weird.

Overall, I think there are a few things that should be improved going forward. I'd like to see a real sleeve patch and not the cap logo.
