  • Injury: Dan Meyer Put on DL with Calf Strain

    Brian Sanches activated from DL.

So we're saying that Meyer sucks because of a "calf strain"? Sure.

Probably just a chance to get Sanches on the active roster without having to option Meyer. More like a fake injury. Now he can take a few days off and go to the minors on a "rehab" assignment to try and work things out a bit.

He also could legitimately be hurt

Yes, he could but this reeks of a phantom injury like Kyle said. We know this organization has done this before.

And now Pinto is the only lefty in the pen.

I don't like Pinto being the only lefty in the pen. I can't wait until he's brought in as a specialist when we need a pitcher to walk a lefty batter on four or five pitches.

And so what if they are faking it? Why is this a bad thing? If he needs to work on his pitches, better off in Jupiter (or wherever) than in the bigs.

Does it really reek of a phantom injury? Have we really done this before?

If there's one thing we're terrible with, it's precautionary MRI's/x-rays, you could tell me we've missed any number of injuries affecting performance and I'd believe it.

I agree that Meyer needs to work his shit out in the minors. No argument there.

What makes this sound like a phantom injury is that nobody has said anything about it. When did he notice it? Why has nobody said anything about it?

Anibal had a pretty shitty start to 2007, it was plain to see to anyone that he wasn't himself, we sent him down then found the injury. Our medical staff is atrocious, an injury coming out of nowhere shouldn't be seen as a phantom injury.

Yea, he could really have a calf strain and be hurt.. but the timing of the move makes it seem a bit phantomish.

And as for Anibal goes... I believe they knew he was hurt before optioning him. They sent him down and then put him on the DL so they didn't have to pay him big league money to be on the DL. I think Anibal won a greivence with the player's association or something.

Anibal did win that greivence but its all speculation of whether or not the front office was trying to save money.
