  • Nate Robertson to Go on Three Days Rest

Nate Robertson had a rough outing in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rockies at Coors Field. He won't have to wait as long as usual to make amends.

Because he only threw 84 pitches over four innings of the 8-1 Rockies win, the Marlins Get your Marlins Tickets now! will bring him back on short rest Wednesday to face the Padres. The other option was to give Clay Hensley a spot start.

With off days Thursday and next Monday, Robertson might have gone more than week between starts had he not agreed to pitch on three days' rest. Ricky Nolasco, Chris Volstad and Josh Johnson in that order could face the Nationals this weekend on one extra day of rest each. Anibal Sanchez, who is starting Tuesday, might not take the mound again for a full week.

"We could do some stuff," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "To tell you the truth, I haven't sat down and looked at it that far. I've only gone to Wednesday. I didn't know how we were going to come out of this series with our pitchers, especially with a doubleheader [Saturday]. We'll see how that works out. The biggest thing is you don't want two guys to go on seven days."

For Robertson, Wednesday will mark his third career start on short rest. The first two he went 1-1 with eight walks, seven strikeouts and a 4.15 ERA (8 2/3 innings).

Robertson didn't have it Saturday. He walked four, hit two batters and gave up a three-run homer to former Marlin Miguel Olivo.

"I wasn't able to repeat a quality pitch all night," Robertson said. "I say all night. It was four innings. A couple of pitches I left out over the plate. A two-seamer to Olivo and a changeup to [Melvin] Mora resulted in four runs right there."

I'm not so sure the Marlins Get your Marlins Tickets now! are making the right move here.

It's a Wednesday day game. No one will be there, thus the game won't matter.

C'mon Festa, you know it matters. We're playing the not-Astros.

They will actually have a good crowd, because it's weather day or whatever the hell... they will bus in like 10,000 school children... that enough is reason to STAY AWAY!

Is it going to be the screaming children? I hate the screaming children in the fish tank.

Nothing will beat the game like 2 years ago during an afternoon game with all the summer camps there and you could hear scream "Give me back my son!"

But CapeFish will be there. That enough is reason to go.

Will Bill Kamal throw out the ceremonial first pitch?

I'll be there. In fact, I'll be the only person there to collect balls hit during batting practice.
This is a Dolphins town, though.
