I don't know many people that subscribe to that school of thought.

He may not have been perfect but this was a very solid start.

Or were you just trying to get me to say something?
If he keeps putting up those numbers he will get knocked around for more than 3 runs. Way too many walks for a guy who can't afford to give up walks.

Probably, but since you didn't tell me, I'm going to now ask questions.

Here's my first question, what site keeps track of swings and misses, both for a pitcher and for hitters?

that's for volstad, and includes league averages. click "quick glossary" for explanations, but i'm pretty sure it's what you're looking for

you can also sort that stuff by league leaders

          http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.asp...n=2010&month=0

click the different headers to sort by whatever category you want to, and to divide it up (nl, al, both, starters, relievers, both, etc). i'm sure you can figure all the rest out

            Well, he doesn't think so

"It didn't feel like 117," Volstad says. "Maybe because it wasn't as hot and humid as it usually is. It felt good to get over that hump and get that pitch count up there."

I thought Volstad pitched ok tonight. He was behind in some counts and walked a few guys, but still a solid start for him. I was a bit surprised Fredi let him go out in the 7th since he was already over 100 pitches through 6, but he almost was able to work a quick 1-2-3 7th before giving up the single and the homer.

Carroll looked real good... nice to have him back on the team. The guy can flat out play, and I think he should probably get a chance to start next season if Cody and/or Uggla is out of the picture (depending on what happens with Stanton ofcourse). Aside from looking good at the plate he showed off his cannon on a single to left. When I saw that ball get through I thought it was going to be an easy run, but he made the play at the plate pretty close. I think the throw was off the plate a bit, but if it was on target I think he would have nailed the runner.

Cam and Gaby both looked good again.. I could start getting used to those two performing the way they have been. It was a fun game to be at, and I'm glad the bullpen had a solid night. Hopper is the best!

Was at the game. Volstad was hit hard on a lot of the outs. It was def a bend don't break performance, but he did what he needed to do so have to give him credit. Fredi should have absolutely pulled him 2 batters before he did. Regardless, I do see this as progress for Volstad. He needs some better control and a few more ground balls, but I see a solid 180+ coming.

BC's best play was the laser he threw to home that Baker I guess missed. What an arm. We need to make time for him. I'm not sure how he can fit into the outfield, but if he gets a start per week over Coghlan, Maybin, and Ross, I think that's fair. Get out CC and Maybin versus a lefty, and Cody a random righty. Keep them all fresh, and get BC consistent playing time so he isn't always bored coming off the bench. Hope it goes down like this. He's a good player.

And people need to stop booing the crap out of Pinto. Some guy a section from the bullpen was escorted out by 4 cops for yelling at Pinto to much. I've never seen anything like it. Yea, he struggles and the walks are insane but christ. We don't have anyone else better, and he's really not that bad in the first place. Everyone needs to chill out with him. It's embarrassing.

Screw it, with the way the bullpen has been pitching, I'd have left Volstad pitch all 9.

I'm only half kidding too. Though Hopper is awesome. I love what I'm seeing from him and Maybin so far. I'm fairly happy with the team thus far, aside from some horrendous bullpen shit and JJ and Nolasco not pitching like JJ and Nolasco.

I loved that people started booing Pinto on the first batter he went 2-0 on.

Whether or not it's founded, and please forgive me if I think Pinto deserves the boos even if he's the turd sandwich to the bullpen's giant douche, I'm glad the crowd gives a damn about perceived bad performances, the nothing atmosphere has gotten old.

It is much more than caring though. The drunks around the bullpen literally berate him for all 9 innings yelling at him that he sucks, is fat, to stop warming up, to fuck off, and repeat. I've never seen a guy get thrown out of a stadium for yelling at his OWN players.

It's really pathetic. I don't have a problem booing him if he lets 2 inherited runners score and walks the next 2 guys, but when the guy is sitting there? Stretching? Coming in, when you are up 2 runs in a pressure situation? Reds fans caught on and start standing and clapping to mess with everyone. Maybe boo at Fredi for not realizing at this juncture to never bring him in with runners on and just start innings with him, but all the hate is directed right at Pinto and it's really pathetic and embarrassing.

The drunk fans are different. Nearly everything they do has no place in organized society.

Speaking of drunk fans... one guy was screaming Hooooomeeeeeer before every pitch Bailey through in the first 4 innings it got old quick. There was also a group of people sitting behind me yelling at Jay Bruce the entire game telling him that he sucks dick... again annoying after the first inning.

I would be more worried about 117 if it was a power pitcher. However, 117 is high no matter how you slice it.

He throws 93. It's not like he's soft tossing it up there.
