Are there any sites that record line drive rates for minor leaguers? I figure this is a long shot that there is on.

So is Skip fucking with us or could he actually be a first rounder?

That site says he swung at 15.4% of balls outside of the zone last season, 13.3% this season.

If that info is correct, those are actually pretty soild %.

I have a hard time believe those are accurate though.

We won't have any idea of the answer to this until we see how he does the rest of the season and what he does in AAA next year.

He's had good stretches before, nothing like this though.

I know what you meant but your question doesn't make much sense.

I'm not getting my hopes up yet but this would be cool if something really clicked.

I tried to make it sound cool and failed. Oh well.

I still don't see him being anything more than a .230 hitter who can only play against righties.

The key is the power. If he's gonna hit HR, that'll do.

The thing that sucks is that he is a lefty and so is Brantly, so a platoon of the two for a year (until Realmuto is ready or whatever) wouldn't really work.

He is only 22; I say we pretend we just drafted him out of college last year which makes him a lefty catcher already slugging over .400 in AA in year one! Top 20 prospect in baseball.

Don't laugh but they are considering using him at 1B next year and keeping LoMo in LF

Some guys in the FO want this while others say NO

It'd be such a tremendous waste of a roster spot if he is on a 25 man roster as anything other than a catcher.

I think, for the most part, you'd be OK with him as a 7 hole hitting catcher with decent defense (since that article represents him as an average/+ catcher) extrapolated on this current path (so think a ML .230/.300/.400 slash). It's not great, but it's useful for the club controlled years.
