  • Amezaga Watch 2009-2010

According to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro, the Marlins and free agent outfielder Alfredo Amezaga have mutual interest in working out a new deal.

Amezaga was non-tendered by the Fish in early December because he was due a raise from the $1.3 million he earned in 2009. In other words, he's not likely to score a major deal. The 31-year-old utilityman was limited to just 27 games this year due to a left knee injury and batted only .217/.267/.261 when he was healthy, but the Marlins seem to like his versatility.

How many poor hitting utility men does this club need?
This is a Dolphins town, though.

Since when is Amezaga and outfielder. Just because the marlins stuck him out there so much doesn't mean it is his position.

Yeah, they should refer to him by his natural position Anything/Everythingbasemanfielder... dude plays EVERYTHING exceptionally well, sans maybe catcher, but who knows, he could be the next Pudge, given the chance

Well, this seems to suggest that Bonifuckface is going to be starting next season. Yipee!

I don't really see how this suggests that. It can't just be suggesting that they'll both be riding the bench?

Was there any doubt? Beinfest has been gushing about him all offseason and implied it would take a monumentally awful spring to keep him out of not only the starting lineup but also from the top of the order.

You're not going to have two slap hitting middle infielders/super subs (since Beinfest is convinced we can do that with Bonifuckface too).

                        One's starting, one's sitting.

Amezaga, who underwent microfracture surgery on his left knee last July, worked out for four clubs last week, according to a major-league source.
