He was very good against LHP in 07, and was very good against them at Alb in 08.

Sure, the surgery is the question, but if he comes back healthy, I wouldn't mind trying him as a LOOGY. We've never done that because we are stuck on the fact that he was a first round pick, but I still think he could be good in that role.

The problem this organization has with "trying" someone at a position is that they're never tried, they're counted on. There's rarely a failsafe.

I would absolutely "try" Tank in the traditional sense. I would absolutely not "try" him the way the Marlins "try" players. I just don't think he's a player you can count on.

Correction: he was good in 2007 (1.03 WHIP/.581 OPS/3.31 FIP against LHB).

Everyone seems to judge him because of the 17 IP sample size of 2008, and even then he lit up lefties in AAA and that was in ALB.

Sure, as I already stated, there's the surgery concern. But we're talking about a guy with a career 1.21 WHIP/.679 OPS/3.76 FIP against LHB. Yet everyone seems to harbor ill feelings for him because of a very small sample size in 2008, which was mostly thanks to Fredi using him horribly and actually having him face RHB. Over 3/5ths of the batters faced in 2008 were RHB. And of coarse there's the infamous time he put Tankersley (Horrible against RHB) in to face Brandon Phillips (Can only hit LHP [career .853 OPS agaisnt LHP, .700 against RHP] and Jeff Keppinger (Can only hit LHP [Career .890 OPS against LHP, .649 against RHP]) and we lost the game because both hit jacks.

Him giving up as many HRs he did this year has not been the exception, it's been the rule.

                I hate HRs

We hear the Marlins have been getting trade inquiries about Matt Lindstrom and are considering dealing him. One Marlins official said Leo Nuñez seems better-suited to close games.

Kevin Gregg seems better suited to close games over Leo Nunez and we traded him.

                                /half serious
