Sierra's definitely made some improvements this year, but he's not there yet. He just needs to get that OBP up around .340-.350 and then maybe we'd have something, kinda want to see if they can get him another year in AAA next year, gotta focus on getting that average up and taking a few more walks. SB numbers and power numbers have been much better this year.

That Clinton team is really fun. Burdick's numbers are absurd.

No options left(Thanks St Louis) so he is on ML Roster or DFA

Even more fun that Jose Devers is the 2B for the playoff run too

            Devers to Clinton
            Nunez/Hampton/Nardi to Batavia

            For playoffs

I'm not convinced he'd get claimed. Even if he did it wouldn't be a huge loss. His career would benefit from more time in the minors.

I think he'd be claimed very quickly. He's still very young, and especially with the new 26 man rosters, he could be at minimum an ideal defensive replacement (he has gold glove upside which I don't think has changed, https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-29-p...miami-marlins/) and super duper premium pinch runner. Someone (likely a non-contender) is taking that on and hopes he can hit even a little. Contenders want these guys badly in September too (see Billy Hamilton, who is a 2 WAR player over 600/PA for his career which is pretty impressive for a guy with a career .624 OPS). If Sierra is 2/3rds of Hamilton's production, he's a great bench player.

He does need more time in the minors, but they don't have that luxury. I'm just not casting him away for at least a season, probably longer.

If he's up next year all he's going to do is languish on the bench, yeah he'd be useful in that 26th man role, but is that really adding that much value? He's never going to improve that way. I'd risk losing him on waivers to try and see if he can become something more than a 26th man in the minors. If we lose him Brian Miller is right behind him and is a very similar player.

I could see them trading him like they did with Peters and Schales LY but doubt they would DFA him right away. Teams(even contenders) would treat him like a Rule 5 pick where they would stash him on roster somewhere.Like lou said he is Billy Hamilton like and with the 26th Man he is perfect

Brian Miller is the same exact player like u said so if they lose him its not a big issue but still think they give him a shot because he has some talent

They are probably protecting 18 bats in the 40 man due to their pitching depth right now. So the bats:

                          Alfaro, Wallach
                          Cooper, L. Diaz
                          I. Diaz, Berti
                          Rojas, Jazz
                          Anderson
                          Brinson, Sierra, Monte
                          Ramirez, Dean, J. Sanchez
                          =15

I have a hard time seeing they acquire at least 4 bats to bump Sierra off the team, and I suspect Dean goes before him if you have to pick one of them and probably Wallach too. Hell maybe even Brinson.

This depth chart lines up to me, they need three veteran bats and Dean has an option so he's shipped to AAA and he's the first call up for an injury anywhere. Then we wait to pass the super 2 deadline when it gets fun.

From that list of 15, only Berti and Anderson have an OPS above .760. We can hope on Diaz, Harrison, Jazz, and Sanchez, but the rest of them? Who really cares?
