I like most of the draft picks the front office has made, but the pick of scott last year was weird to me. He just doesnt seem to have the pure hitting ability needed to make up for what seems like a lack of power. It's also way too early to judge and he's incredibly young and he's been better since april, just seemed like a weird pick at the time given who was available. Gorman was available, as was liberatore, and they went with what seemed like both the highest risk and the lowest ceiling of the 3. But like i said, it's still way too early. His body and player profile does remind me a ton of yelich, but yelich had an unquestioned elite hit tool pretty much from the get go even when he was just starting out in greensboro.
Banfield strikes me as someone who is going to be very similar to alfaro in terms of power and K numbers, but banfield has a pretty ridiculous ceiling as a defender so if he ever becomes better than expected as a hitter, he is a legitimately big time prospect.

i hope we start moving these guys up. Cabrera, Rogers, and Garrett can be moved up soon, Dugger should be moved up soon, and Gallen and Elieser should be moved up soon. Sixto's stats you can tell are just from completely dominant and electric stuff, but id like to see him take the next step in development and become an actual pitcher in terms of working quickly and effectively through lineups and being able to get deeper into the game as a result. I see pitching development as a 2 step process at each level- first you just care about whether they look like they belong at that level and can hold their own and at least keep their teams into games and limit damage based on pure stuff, then they take the next step of mastering the level and getting through lineups more efficiently and getting deeper into games.
For example, Gallen took step 1 last year, and seems to be taking step 2 in AAA this year. Sixto looks like he's at step 1 in AA, and the next thing to be seen for the remainder of the year is for him to adjust and become dominant and do so not just on the basis of his pure stuff, but on the basis of actually becoming a "pitcher"

4 straight great starts from Will Stewart. Good to see him bounce back after a decent April followed by a horrendous May.

Also, after checking about a month ago on Diaz's stats vs lefties, he's drastically improved his numbers. He's pretty close to ready. Brinson on the other hand has been incredibly disappointing if you look at his peripherals. No walks, way too many k's for someone who should be dominating that league, and just 6/10 on SB's. Keep his ass there the rest of their year and then bring him up for September.

Batavia starts tommorrow. One guy on the roster is Kobie Taylor
NH HS POY and was a Vandy Commit
5 tool guy who is now 20
Texas 15th Rd Pick but tons of injuries

Reason I mention this is because I am amazed how this FO gets and wants talent instead of like the last one who was happy with 28 yr olds in Rookie Ball to fill a roster. He might suck but at 20 is worth a 2nd look!! Not really sure where we are playing the 8 OF's we got there but nice to see we have talent

By way what the hell has happened to Touchdown Tommy? Looks terrible in AAA still

U need to realize in the draft/IFA guys give every team a different # based on where they wanna play. CWS could have called Boras and he said 8 million because he wanted to be in Miami(What happened LY). Actually happened few times in this draft for us we "agreed" to a number with some of our later picks which is why we got them so late
Liberatore gave TB a much higher # but they called his bluff and took him anyway. In future years we will probably start doing this but hard to gamble when u need the talent. Teams try to "float" guys(NYM did it this year with Allan) and players try to pick where they go(Volpe and Leiter told teams they wanted crazy signing bonus and would only sign with the NY teams-NYY took Volpe and got him for close to slot). Its the same with IFA-Baltimore had 6 MILLION to spend on Yo Sanchez and his agent told them he has a 2 million dollar offer from an NL team(MIAMI I HOPE!!!) so he had no interest in themLast edited by tjfla; 06-13-2019, 07:37 AM.
