      Fangraphs

Salas FV35+ - Natural defender with below average footspeed, arm may limit to second base, some projection with limited now strength but solid contact-oriented switch hitter. Bonus is rumored to be a good bit over $1 million.

      J. Sanchez FV35 - Sanchez has good hands at the plate and in the field but may be a second baseman with fringe-to-average speed and power.

      Other guys not listed.

They've immediately inserted Salas as Marlins # 29 overall prospect, and Sanchez isn't on the list but is likely 40-50 range. Diaz, Gallen, Quijada, and Yamamoto are ahead of him, so he's technically going to be #25 very soon once they all graduate

      Heres to the lottery tickets.

Wow $2.8 million for a kid with below average foot speed who had his first legit erection 3 years ago. I feel (and sound) so old right now.

Be interesting what they do with Salas next year. He is from Kissimmee,FL(Disney area) and "moved" to Venezuela so he could sign early. Lucious Fox type thing

Speaks English/went to American Schools and family from here

that's allowed? Granted, moving to venezuela isnt exactly luxury but it would seem like moving to an IFA country at 16 would be a great way to become a professional quicker for kids who are actually interesting to teams at 16.

Why wouldn't it be? Lots of guys from the DR are born in NY-they move down when like 11/12 and sign a ML contract at 16 instead of going to HS. Happens mostly with DR/Bahamas kids

              Jose Salas article from 2016

              City of Life

Chad Smith enters his fourth year as head coach at City of Life.

The Warriors won the district championship last year. Now in an eight-team district that includes Orlando Christian Prep and Central Florida Christian Academy, the Warriors must play well to win another championship.

“It’s definitely going to be a very competitive district this year,” said Smith. “We have to be ready to compete each and every game, and if we are, we will be fine”

Led by brothers Joshua (senior) and Jarrett (freshman) Perez, junior Christian “CC” Clayton and sophomore Trace Smith, COL has a solid foundation.

The roster includes juniors Bobby Edwards and Anthony Ledesma, sophomores Luke Baumruk, Nate Lyons and Jorge Rivera, seventh-graders Isaiah Montes and Jayson Santiago and sixth-grader grader Jose Salas.

because it is a blatant attempt at circumventing the draft rules for kids in the US and puerto rico. But im cool with it, guys should do whatever they think is best for their career, i just didnt know that it was allowed.

If u dual citizen what can MLB do? Its like soccer-kids are born in Africa but move to France yet they play for the African country they/parents are from.

His dad played for the Braves so they probably had him when he was in the minors but still had VZ citizenship. I remember growing up and playing in baseball camps-1 instructor was Ivan DeJesus who son Ivan Jr would come to Orlando for like 5/6 months a year(July-Dec and play in baseball camp then in Kissimmee league)the in Jan would leave to PR till next year

We need 1 or 2 million(Urena/Conley trade?) for him so doubtful and Miami is looking at a few Cuban guys and still have others they are looking at IF they can get cash so he is NOT high on our list

                      https://blogs.fangraphs.com/prospect...e-carlos-vera/

All this would imply that Vera might be due to receive a signing bonus somewhere between $1.5 million and $2.5 million. July 2-eligible prospects, of course, are not the same as American and Canadian amateur players selected in the draft. Given that Vera is old enough to sign at any time, teams with a lot of money left could reasonably see him as the prize worthy of making their top priority. We don’t have perfectly up-to-date bonus pool totals, but sources indicate the teams with the top remaining pools include the Phillies (rumored to be closely following Taiwanese RHP Po-Yu Chen as well), Astros (who have a long recent track record of Cuban signings including Yuli Gurriel, Cionel PĂ©rez, Rogelio Armenteros, and who traded for Yordan Alvarez shortly after the Dodgers signed him), Orioles (who are still looking for a headline international signing after passing on Yolbert Sanchez last winter), Brewers, Cardinals, Nationals, Rockies, and Indians. Or he could wait to sign until July 2, 2020, should another club offer him a substantial amount more than the aforementioned teams, which would puts other orgs, like the Rangers, into play.
