No surprise as most 2019 guys had committed in 2017.

        Miami has $554,500(As of 2/8)

No clue if this is true(always heard it resets) but according to Frisaro

that money rolls over into ‘19 class

Like usual the "Worst Beat Writer" is wrong this from another site

To clear up any confusion, Marlins added $250,000 to their 2018-19 international bonus pool in the Realmuto trade. Now got $554,500 total. They have until June 15 to use it or lose it.

Bruce Sherman on the importance of the #Marlins academy in the Dominican Republic:

"It's extremely important. We're going to spend money. We told people we're looking at real estate and we're going to build a world class academy. It's critical."

It’s crazy how low loria made the bar that we are so excited to just emphasize IFA again. That should be a basic strategy of any front office

If u are looking for any info on who Miami might be spending some of there 6 Million on(2020 starts the Non Commitments so Miami has a chance then). I have no issue if they signed a few Cubans who were 17-20 but would pass on OF only types as we have a glut already

List was also announced by the Cuban federation, linked above. Its strong, considering the lower talent base in Cuba these days. Top prospects:

Sergio Barthelemy, CF (25, big raw/arm)
              Norge Vera, RHP (17, 6'6)
Cesar Prieto, 2B (22 in May)(McDaniel says Prieto is actually 19 and was ROY in Cuban League)
Yoelkis Cespedes, CF ( 21, brother of Yoenis)

Other of note among the 34: Yoelkis Guibert, CF Geyser Cepeda, CF Daniel Perez, 1B Felix Rodriguez, CF Yosimar Cousin, RHP Norel Gonzalez, 3B Alfredo Frandraga, C Carlos Font, RHP

              - - - - - - - - - -

I would be all over Prieto and Vera

We signed an 18 year-old Cuban lefty, Sandro Bargallo, for $200,000. According to cibercuba.com, he has a 90-92 mph fastball and an above-average curve for his age.

Stocking up on up the middle guys!! Hope they follow the Marinez approach-DSL till July then up to GCL. Sanchez looks solid in video(Isan Diaz like) but Salas scouting reports sounds amazing.

Salas' impressive bat speed and strike zone recognition cause him to stand out as the most advanced hitter in his class. The shortstop is a line-drive hitter now, but his power is expected to increase as he matures and his above-average speed could eventually turn him into a 30-30 player.

This kid looks great too (Reason I mention is #1 He is wearing a Marlins hat in his picture and #2 On a profile he has says "Professional Baseball Player of the Miami Marlins"

                        Yidi Cappe | Rank: 7
                        Hometown: Havana, Cuba
Position: SS Age: 16 DOB: 8/17/2002 Bats: R Throws: R Height: 6'3" Weight: 175 lb.

                        Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 55 | Run: 55 | Arm: 60 | Field: 50

The young infielder left Cuba late last year and has quickly emerged as one of the top international prospects eligible to sign when the next international signing period starts July 2. Tall and lean, Cappe has an athletic and projectable body. He has a body frame similar to a young Carlos Correa or Derek Jeter at a similar age with the potential to fill out as he develops

He projects to have average to plus tools across the board. At the plate, he shows advanced bat to ball skills and his bat tool projects to be above average. He makes hard contact to all fields and has an advanced understanding of the strike zone. He shows good footwork and solid hands on defense with plus arm potential. He could eventually outgrow the position, but for now, he'll start at shortstop until he is forced to make a change.

He began playing baseball at age 4 in the youth leagues of Havana and in the national competition with the team from the Artemisa province at 16. He never traveled outside of Cuba and scouts did not have a chance to evaluate him until this year.

Cappe trains with Wellington Herrera and is represented by Yolfri Sanchez in the Dominican Republic. It's uncertain if he will sign during the upcoming period or wait until July 2, 2020, to sign.

Don’t be surprised to see the Marlins sign at least three talented players from Latin America: Venezuelan shortstops Jose Salas and Junior Sanchez and Bahamian infielder Ian Lewis. All three are 16.

Miami is the favorite to land all three. Scouts believe all three can play multiple infield positions.

First hearing about Ian Lewis but LOVE LOVE LOVE that Miami is getting into the Bahamas. 1 hour trip yet most there guys go to Arizona/LAA

Lewis is 5'9 150 and looks about 12 but talent is talent

                            From MLB.com

The next wave of young talent from the Bahamas includes shortstops Ian Lewis, Dax Stubbs, Zion Bannister, catcher Lahiem Bell, along with outfielders Everette Cooper, Adrian Edgecombe, D'Shaughn Forbes and Andre Arthur. Their first steps in the race to be the next big leaguer from the Bahamas starts when they sign during the international signing period that begins July 2.

We're gonna sign 22 year old Yolbert Sanchez at some point in the near future. Not sure who the other guy in this picture is. Any idea? And are they hinting that they will both be signing with us? Either way, great to see us with 2-3 guys who are going to be signed with us this IFA period out of MLB pipelines top 30. IFA is a crapshoot but you we were doing ourselves such a disservice by not investing in it at all under the previous moron owner.
