If they didn't trade him at the deadline, I can't imagine they'd trade Barraclough in the off-season.

I think you give Brigham a one-month tryout in the rotation in September. If he impresses he starts the year in the rotation next year, if not you probably move him to reliever on a permanent basis. Alcantara maybe it's less important in my mind that he's up in September, but he's arguably your top pitching prospect, the main piece in trading one of your stars in the offseason, he's had a pretty good, if not world-beating year at AAA. It'd be nice to have a little better idea of what kind of contributor he's going to be next season.

Brigham and Kinley should get shots this year because they have to be added to 40 man anyways otherwise they are likely gone in Rule 5

They see Brigham as Merandy like. RP arm who could start

To be fair that is what Brigham is. The current Tom Koehler of the system.

Don't know why the team would be so quick to give up on Gonzalez as a starter. He's 22 years old and killed all levels of A ball last year. I still think they were wrong to send him to the majors for 8 random appearances this year and ruined him a small bit. He's only recently started getting back on track.

Well Brigham's bigger issue is his durability. He can not hold up as a SP

Thats because they see Merandy as a RP. They would love for him to be a SP but reality is he probably isnt. Just like Guzman-FO would love for him to be a SP but if u watch him pitch he is a Closer

I disagree with that assessment. Gonzalez has regularly gone 7 innings (each of his last 3 starts for that matter) and shows no reason why he can't be a starter. Gonzalez could easily emerge as one of the Marlins best starting pitching prospects by 2020.

I think it's a 3rd pitch issue. He is fastball/slider and a below average changeup (preseason reports). Obviously that can improve, maybe it has? Haven't seen any new reports on him lately though. I feel it's going to be hard for him to crack Alcantara, Richards, Ca. Smith, Urena, Pablo, Neidert, and an inevitable "FA SP," plus the other maybes with Guzman, Gallen, Yamamoto, Brigham, Peters, etc. who could work out in the rotation versus pen. Maybe he does end up being one of the best 5 though. Fine with him starting until he proves otherwise.
