The initial MLB call wasn't bad. He combined for a 1.000 OPS in AAA over 100 games. I mean crap he still has just 290 ABs in the majors. I have no problem with the team having let him try and figure out his issues at the MLB level given he had nothing left to prove in AAA. This was the lowest pressure situation possible in the majors to work through his issues.

he had plenty left to prove in AAA. He was in Colorado last year which is why his numbers were inflated. He has plate discipline issues and it was obvious in spring training. Combined with the service time concerns in a lost year and then having him make the team and consistently batting him 8th and we have completely and utterly mismanaged his situation.

If Brinson started the season in AAA people would've been bitching about wasting a player we could be molding for the future. I swear there are times where the team literally can't win no matter what they do.

I had no problem starting him in the majors from a player development standpoint. (The service time thing was stupid though, I agree) But you can't let the kid continue to bash his head against the wall at the major league level. Give him some new scenery, a less stressful situation, maybe some new voices in his ear, and see if he can turn it around, and when he has bring him back and it's a clean slate.

Kinda understand because of age but sucks they only promoted 1 guy so far from the DSL.

Palacios and Lara dominated again today. They have probably 14 guys who could be up on the GCL team next year with 3 or 4 being older than 19

            Next year in GCL
            Bats-Machado/Montero/Rosario/Sosa/Giron/Mercado
            Arms-Palacios/Lara/Galindez/Borges/Eysseric/De Paula/Leudy

Damn Yankees. Nobody batted an eye when the name of Michael King came up in the Caleb Smith/Cooper trade wth NY. Looking at what King has done this season will make Marlin fans ill. After pitching at GBO for Marlins last year, he shot through A+, AA and AAA for NY. Suffice to say the Marlins gave up arguably their very best prospect in the deal.

No. Its not arguable in the slightest to say that.

You're right, it's really not. Current top-rated pitching prospects Alcantara, Guzman, and Neidert have not experienced King's level of success this season.

shocking that you'd put blind value into minor league numbers without looking at all to context, age, stuff. so unlike you.

My three measures of pitcher ability: 1) fewer hits than IP 2) K an inning 3) low walk rate. If a pitcher can't check those boxes, "stuff" doesn't amount to much. They are all about the same age (Neidert slightly younger).

lol, I thought Caleb Smith was the Marlins top prospect according to Lee.

right behind Jeff Brigham, Ben Meyer, and Trevor Richards.

stuff does amount to a lot when you think about development and how the prospects results will change when they get to the major league level. Thats why your valuation of prospects is absurd and lacks several variables that are needed to properly extrapolate potential results at the major league level.
