5 good to great outings in a row for Miller. He will turn 23 in a few weeks. I think it's time to bump him up to Jupiter.

wow i knew he had a couple solid starts in a row but looking at his game logs he's really turned it around. We'll start to see some more releases and promotions after the draft i would think. Guys who i think are very close to promotion are Lopez, Neidert, Alcantara, both Brandon and Brian Miller, and Lillie. And Austin Dean. And because of the injury to start the year Yamamoto will likely get at least another 3 starts in Jupiter, but given that he already pitched at the A+ level in the brewers system last year he likely wont spend significant time in Jupiter.

Nick Niedert continues to pitch well in AA. He now has an ERA of 3.03 and 68 Ks in 59.1 innings over 11 starts. He won't turn 22 until after the season.

Our top dozen prospects are pitchers IMO. Niedert is defintiely among the top five.

Long term, the team's best prospect is clearly Jorge Guzman. Short term it's Nick Neidert and Zac Gallen. Both these guys should be regular contributors to a major league starting rotation for quite some time. Neidert clearly has higher upside, but Gallen has potential to be a Mark Buehrle type (consistent #3 for a long time).

Alcantara seems too wild to ever find consistent major league success. Despite still having high upside he seems more likely to succeed as a closer.

Tons of options in the farm. The problem as mentioned previously is that a lot of these guys don't have star potential, similar to what guys like Stanton, Yelich, Fernandez, Hermida, Morrison, Maybin, Miller etc... offered in the past (yes I know Hermida/Morrison/Maybin/Miller didn't work out but they had star potential). That is by far the biggest flaw in the Marlins minors that will surely come back to hurt them in the long term.

Back to back 3 hit games. Weirdly enough Diaz's mediocre season so far this year closely mirror his mediocre season last year in A+ ball.

Still completely baffled that the team put Merandy Gonzalez in the majors for a random 13 innings, starting his clock for no reason at all.

I think it was because they needed an arm and he was one on the 40 man roster, so it was the easiest move to make at the time.

Good to see Jose Quiada make his AAA debut last night. He's one of the few lefty reliever prospects we have.

They needed a RP and he was the closest we had already on the 40 man

Lopez to AAA. Neidert shouldn’t be far behind

It was getting hard to ignore Lopez's numbers. Him and Gallen just scream solid major league starters. If Neidert could grow into a legitimate #2 starter then the team has something cooking. Still lack that clear star #1 guy in the farm though. Big hurdle to get over. Guzman is the closest the team has to the possibility but he's nowhere near the team's short term plans.

IDK which one will be more than anticipated, but i just feel like given the amount of guys in AA and higher who are young and pitching well that its going to be hard for ALL of them to be a #3 or lower. I think we are in a really fucking good place starting pitching wise just because i think at the very least we have at least 5 guys who can be #3/4's and no true holes in the rotation with an upside of a few of them becoming more than that. I think Neidert is more of a #3 long term and Gallen #4 but both are among a group of our pitchers who should be getting more hype. Lopez is the darkhorse to me to become the best of the bunch and a legit front of the rotation guy and Alcantara and Guzman with the potential to be #2's. I dont see any of them becoming sure fire #1's but that isnt the end of the world if they can make up for it with depth and a great bullpen.

Pablo Lopez is definitely the wild card. He could become an ace in a second. That 2017 season is a black mark in his record, but the Mariners minor league team rushed him back from injury and he clearly wasn't ready to be back. Mariners sold him for pennies on the dollar. Lopez has increased his strikeout ability and it is definitely impressive how good he's been in AA at 22 years old. Him not turning 23 until March is very good for his future development. If he puts up good numbers in AAA the rest of this season, he should be considered our top minor league prospect without a question. I'd also be surprised if he doesn't jump into the top 50 MLB prospects if he, say, posts a mid 2 ERA in New Orleans.
