Another great start for Lopez. Also good to see Sierra stay hot in AAA and get on base 4 more times.

That's 4 pretty good starts in a row for Conley.

Riddle not being called up is kind of silly at this point. He's clearly healthy and it's not as if the Marlins can't use his bat.

pablo lopez is really encouraging. and id really like to see conley come out of the bullpen with the major league club if he has success for a few more starts.

      - - - - - - - - - -

and sierra has been hitting over .300 for the better part of a month since he started 1/24. needs to get more walks but his hit tool has been consistently underrated by people here looking at his career minor league numbers rather than looking deeper into those numbers and how he improved after struggling early at each level he went to.

Sierra reminds me a lot of Dee Gordon offensively. Hopefully he can have a similar MLB production.

that seems like a pretty fair comparison

Magneuris Sierra in 470 career minor league games: 104 SBs, 69.8% success rate

success rate has to improve 100%. he's 6/7 this year though so maybe he's improving in that area. that's something you can improve on with time.

id be cool with Austin Dean and Zac Gallen getting the call up. Also, Brian Miller's day was even more impressive when you consider it was against Anthony reyes in a rehab start.

Don't forget when u throw out names to check if they are on the 40 man or not. One thing all rebuilding teams have to consider because once they are on the 40 man if u need a spot that guy gets DFA

Not saying they won't call Dean and Gallen up(I think they will after Trade Deadline) just saying they have to consider it

Down on the Farm - Rating the Prospects

Catcher. With JT Realmuto’s future as a Marlin in doubt, is there an in-house replacement on the horizon? Look no further than Roy Morales. Defense comes first at the position and he’s the best. The 22-year-old, currently at Jupiter, was lost in the shuffle after being suspended for drug use last year. With his 80-game suspension over, he’s back on track. Not a power hitter at this time, he’s an outstanding contact hitter, walking as much as he whiffs. In his first 8 games, he’s hitting .360 with an OBP of .407. In both 2016-17, his OBP was around .370. Evaluators believe power will come.

First base. Lazaro Alonso, Greensboro. The big Cuban, age 23, has returned to the game after a two-year absence. In only ten games, he’s hitting .429 with a 1.250 OPS. At a relatively thin position in the Marlin organization, his numbers leap off the stat sheet. He could move up even a couple levels this summer … maybe.

Second base. Eyes are on Isan Diaz at AA. The sub-.200 BA makes them blink. Will he make strides in contact? Hard to say, but at least he has a knack for drawing walks. Middle infield is a major focus for upgrade in the system.

Shortstop. JT Riddle is about it, but he’s certainly hitting better than ever in AAA. Last year draftee Joe Dunand is playing short at Jupiter, but profiles better at 3b. It’s possible that he may challenge Brian Anderson as the future Miami defender at the corner. Anderson appears capable of becoming a JC LaMahieu-size second sacker or even manning the OF.

Third base. Anderson, Dunand and James Nelson, who is yet to play this season.

Outfield. Lewis Brinson, Monte Harrison and Mags Sierra are the highly rated prospects, but all show serious warts at this early stage. With the first two the hit tool is missing; situation precarious. Sierra is totally lacking in OPS potential (OBP too). Blooming Austin Dean is the guy that’s flashing potential to supplant any of the current Marlins. The intriguing potential five-tool Thomas Jones is off to a monumental start at Greensboro. In just his first week of 2018 action, he was named his league’s outstanding player of the week.

Pitching. Line ‘em up in your preferred order. My list is Trevor Richards, Ben Meyer, Pablo Lopez, Dillon Peters, Zac Gallen, Sandy Alcantara. That’s an entire starting five plus one. Jeff Brigham (currently DL) and Merandy Gonzalez also show great potential. BP arms include Kinley and Quijada at AA and Hovis, Keller and Schiraldi at Jupiter.

I dont think it matters all that much. we have plenty of guys who we can dfa easily on top of the fact that a bunch of spots will open up on the 40 man come trade deadline time.

Looks like Trevor Rogers is in fact a REAL Person and Still Alive!!!

                          From Mayo(MLB.com)

The good news is that there's nothing wrong with the 20-year-old southpaw physically. Because of his lack of time on the mound, the Marlins are just erring on the side of caution, keeping him back in extended spring camp and letting him slowly build up so he's ready to join a rotation later this summer. He's getting his innings up and has reportedly been up to 95 mph with his fastball with an eye on an assignment, possibly to a short-season club.
