Looks like they fixed Lukas Schiraldi. Gotta give it to the organization they seem to do well with hard throwing relievers with control problems.

hadn't even seen his numbers till you said that. we're gonna have a hell of a bullpen in a few years. hopefully we play it smart and let the prospects work themselves out and stop spending money in the most inefficient way possibly by signing average veteran bullpen arms.

Yup, the one thing they have always done well through the Loria era was find quality relievers/closers.

Which is why is it is so maddening that Loria felt the need to trade an actual prospect for Fernando Rodney or pay any amount of money to Ziegler and Tazawa. Last year they committed $50 million over 2 years to Volquez/Ziegler/Tazawa...and another $7+ million for AJ Ellis/Locke/McGowan. What a waste...Man, Loria was bad at running a baseball team...

He is having an impressive season. Hopefully he gets moved up soon. Could be another Steckenrider, who took a while to figure it out (although Drew had a number of injuries), but turned into a quality reliever.

Ya, that was my biggest issue with loria. Not that he was cheap and didnt want to win, because neither of those was true relating to wanting the major league team to win or being willing to spend money on the major league team (he was cheap as shit in regards to building a minor league system but thats another story), Loria's biggest issue was that he consistently meddled in the most mind numbingly stupid ways and for the most ridiculously below average players possible. Its been reported that he was behind the Heath Bell, John Buck, Chen, Ziegler and Tazawa, and Saltalamacchia deals all because he thought they were "the piece," when if he just let his baseball guys do the work and evaluate baseball talent like they knew how and stopped forcing them to deal prospects for "the missing piece" we would never have been forced to deal the guys we did in the offseason in the first place.

They always find quality RP because they take solid college RP. The problem was they waited to long to move them up-the new staff has NO problem moving guys up if they think they are something

Not really another Steckenrider. Steckenrider they wanted to be a SP however he blew his arm out and realized 2 inning power arms are valuable. They did same thing with Andy Beltre(injured now) but will be very nice. Schiraldi's problem was control

he's 23 in Greensboro. He can prove more by playing against people who arent 3-4 years younger than him in a non hitters league. the guy is 14/24 with 6 XBH, he's clearly better than the league.
