Could this have something to do with it being Dean's 3rd full year in AA and Harrison and Diaz's first taste of AA? Or that's just not a factor at all?

Alcantara's numbers dont reflect how he looked for most of that game. He threw 3 scoreless and walk-less innings to start the game and then the wheels fell off in the 4th and especially in the 5th. Also that brewers AAA lineup had several big leaguers in it and the ballpark in Colorado springs is a known hitters paradise, exhibit A being what Lewis Brinson did there last year.

According to some age and repeating levels mean NOTHING(They really do). With Dean I think it has more to do with he is actually healthy again

Greensboro is playing Washington team with Soto/Garcia/Antuna. Pretty amazing to see 17 yr olds look like they belong

Ya the past few games in AAA I wouldn't look at pitchers. They played in CO Springs(Gallen actually had a nice start)

Btw, Soto looks absolutely unbelievable for the Washington minor league team. Marlins need to get him if they decide to move JT there.

All three are getting a taste of pitchers they never saw before.

Ya no chance in hell they are getting him now. Best chance was December when Washington would think about it.

I think a Kieboom/Crowe/Garcia OR Antuna/Severino and a mid level prospect is the BEST they will get from Washington and its not a bad deal IF Kieboom can stick at SS

We also had our own Soto batting third in that game. He's looking not bad.

Reports on Alcantara vary. Many say he is best suited for relief duty.

Hitters either figure it out or they don't. I can't put finite judgement on a player's age - as so many writers/fans are prone to do. Every human is different. I chose to credit Dean for swinging it well, even if he's a year older than Harrison/Diaz.

Well you're no longer just ignoring age, you're ignoring the fact that being moved up to a new minor league level takes a period of adjustment for most players because they're facing a higher quality of pitching. 2 years ago when Austin Dean was the age of Harrison and a year older than Diaz. He had a .684 OPS over 480 ABs in his first year in AA. He was slightly better last year, but he also had an injury-riddled season. Thus his lack of a spot on the top prospect lists. It's not hard to figure out.

but let's ignore that and judge players based on their first 25 ABs of this season instead.

Jeff Brigham another five shutout innings tonight. For the season 10 IP with 18 K's. He looks ideally suited to pen. Generates more swing and miss strikes than I've ever seen in a game.

He’s been pretty damn good since last season. Would like to see him get a few starts though. Ben Meyer is looking good as usual.

Brigham deserves a promotion. Not sure of the space in the Nola rotation. I know Meyer, Alcantara, and Gallen, and Conley but i cant think of the 5th starter. Either way, maybe one more start for him and get him to AAA. Long term bullpen arm but keep him in the rotation as long as possible (for everyone, not just him).
