C Chris Hoo and P Chris Mazza have been released.

Hoo was a 27th round pick in 2014. He had played with Jax and Jupiter this year, hitting a combined .205 in 73 at-bats. In 798 career ABs, he has just a .213 average and .579 OPS.

Mazza was signed as a minor league free agent in August of 2015. He pitched for New Orleans and Jax this season, compiling a 1-1 record with a 4.03 ERA in 22.1 innings.

Barrett was a 15th round draft pick of the Marlins in 2015. In Jacksonville this year, he hit .228 over 101 at-bats. He did hit four triples, but with no homers, nine walks, and 33 strikeouts.

Couple more releases...RHP's Alex Wimmers and Colton Murray.

Wimmers was signed to a minor league contract and invited to spring training in December. He pitched just four games in AAA, putting up a 9.82 ERA.

Murray was signed to a minor league deal on April 1st after not making the Rays out of spring training. He too appeared in just four games in AAA, with an unsightly 17.36 ERA.

Peter O'Brien, who has been raking the last few days in AA, was recently acquired from the Dodgers for cash. He has five homers in eight games for the Jumbo Shrimp thus far.

Marlins signed RHP Chad Martin, who was released from the (take a guess...) Yankees organization on June 8. The 24 year-old carried a 0.84 ERA in 11 games with full-season A league Charleston. 21.1 innings, just seven hits allowed, 12 walks, and 21 strikeouts. He is currently with Batavia.

With the additions from the draft, there's more bloodletting. Those released last week include RHP Obed Diaz (a 26th round pick in 2015, he last pitched in GCL last year, with a 2.45 ERA in seven games); RHP Geral Silva (three years in the Marlins organization; is credited with one game last year in GCL but no innings pitched. Hasn't pitched at all this year); C Skyler Ewing (signed to a minor league deal March 26, he combined to hit .136 between Jax and Jupiter this season); and 2B Mason Davis (a 19th round pick in 2014, Davis struggled in AA this year, to the tune of a .193 average, seven walks and 24 strikeouts in 119 at-bats).

Going to be alot more bloodletting soon

They drafted and will sign about 30 new guys and have also signed about 5 UDFA/Indy Ball P(23-26) and have them in Rookie Ball. I like how they are adding as much depth as possible but u can only have 35 guys on each roster so alot of names will be vanishing soon

Burnett, signed to a minor-league deal in mid-March, had a 5.49 ERA in 17 games in AAA New Orleans. He pitched 20.2 innings, surrendering 31 hits, walking five and striking out 24.

Gonzalez came to the Marlins from the Phillies in a trade for a PTBNL in January of 2017. He pitched for Jacksonville and New Orleans last year, but solely in AAA this season. He was largely ineffective, compiling a 5.61 ERA in 21 games. 33.2 innings, 39 hits, nine walks, 23 strikeouts was his line.

tj also mentioned in another thread that Eric Gutierrez had retired. He was a 20th round pick by Miami in 2016. He split time between Greensboro and Jupiter this year, combining to hit .281 in 178 at-bats with 12 doubles, three homers and 18 RBIs. He had 12 walks and 27 strikeouts this season.

Catching up on transactions...first, several NDFA signings:

-P Jared Crescentini out of Southeastern (Fla.) College: 6'4", 230 lb righty and brother of Marcus Crescentini, also in the Marlins organization. Jared went 6-1 with a 3.18 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 56.2 innings. He started the season in the rotation before moving to the bullpen and notching six saves. He has already pitched two games for GCL.
-RHP Jameson McGrane, from Limestone (S.C.) College: He has pitched nine games in the Frontier League this year, giving up two hits in 9.1 innings, while striking out 19. The 26 year-old has pitched once each for GCL and Batavia thus far.
-RHP Tyler Mitzel from Augustana (S.D.): Had also pitched for Neosho Community College and Arkansas St. during his collegiate career. Compiled a 2.02 ERA this past year, 80.1 innings, 76 Ks. Mitzel has also pitched for Batavia once.
-LHP Marty Anderson: Anderson has bounced around the independent scene and also has some experience in the Mets organization since turning pro in 2016. This season in the Frontier League, he pitched 25.2 innings, surrendering 14 walks and striking out 33. He has pitched three games for GCL and one for Batavia this year.
-LHP Scott Sebald: Sebald also pitched in the Frontier League in 2018. He broke in as part of the Rangers organization in 2016, never reaching higher than Low A. He had a 3.30 ERA in the Frontier League before signing with the Marlins, where has pitched for GCL and Greensboro this season.

                              And the releases...

-RHP Osman Gutierrez: He was brought over from the Blue Jays in the Tom Koehler deal. He pitched three games for Batavia last year, but hadn't pitched at all this year.
-OF Cade Gotta: Gotta had played quite a bit this season after signing a minor league contract on April 1st. He played 44 games for AA Jacksonville, hitting .254 and OPSing .717. He had 18 stolen bases out of 21 opportunities.
-OF Harrison White: White was a 31st round pick in 2017. He hit .280 with an OPS of .728 in Batavia last year. He walked 21 times with 32 Ks. This year, he had been 0-for-11 in five games with the Muckdogs.
-LHP Doug Domnarski: A 27th round pick in 2017, Domnarski had a 1.59 ERA in 17 Rookie League innings last year. He pitched two games for Batavia this year without surrendering an earned run.
LHP Logan Boyd: Boyd is a former Red Sox draft pick signed to a minor league contract by the Marlins at the end of March this year. He started three games for Batavia this year.

Family ties didn't last long as the Marlins released P Marcus Crescentini, brother of the recently-signed Jared. Marcus was a 26th round pick of the Dodgers in 2015, and had been in the Marlins organization since 2016. He pitched mostly at Jacksonville this year, sporting a 3.91 ERA in 23 games, with five saves. He walked 19 in 25.1 innings, striking out 24.

Also released was OF Josh Hart. A CBA draft pick of the Orioles in 2013, Hart was signed as a free-agent by the Marlins on April 1. He had not played a minor league game this year before being placed on Batavia's roster and subsequently let go.

Finally, P Ben Holmes was also released. Holmes was a 9th round pick in 2014 for Miami. He had an impressive 2016 across A and A+ levels, with a 1.18 ERA in 35 games. After a so-so 2017, he just recently began to pitch again in 2018, registering a 5.56 ERA combined between Jupiter and Jacksonville.
