The front office doesn't have a clue. They prolly have no idea that they wouldn't be playoff eligible.

Gotta love the lack of position players in the system-Vigil and Mooney have no business being in the system let alone a "prospect" league. Peters and Del Pozo are going for the innings while Meyer and Squier are going to see if they are prospects or just depth arms. And yes guys can be replaced but this is the list we submitted

What a bunch of idiots!!! O wait

      What determines postseason eligibility?

It used to be a player had to be on the 25-man roster or on the disabled list by Sept. 1. That's no longer the case, as all players on the 40-man roster are now eligible -- teams just have to pick their 25-man rosters before their playoff series.

Pretty much now its as long as u are in the system by Sept 1 u are eligible. Reason why Anderson isn't up yet is because they would have to DFA someone or option Telis for 2 days. Wait till Sept 1 and just 60 Day Riddle and add Anderson(he is coming up)

God forbid we DFA telis. Also, we have so many terrible players on our 40 man who could easily be DFA'd. there is 0 excuse not to have him and peters up here yet.

There is also 0 excuse to let Worley pitch last night or think that giving Despaigne another start is a good idea.

Aviles, Cervenka, Severino Gonzalez, Destin Hood, Chris O Grady, Telis could all be DFA'd and the team probably wouldnt lose them or lose anything at the major league level. also, we could 60 day like 5 different players and do that immediately rather than waiting this long for no reason. Volquez, Riddle, O'Grady, Prado can all be 60 day'd immediately.

BTW, I am just shocked that your idea of using Worley's 2 starts against the nats and that small sample size of 13 innings of success didnt work out. Just shocked.

U were right like usual!!! I just hope we bring up Anderson and Peters before Sept 1 so they can be playoff eligible

Again totally right lets DFA and 60 Day like 8 guys and bring up some from our #30 ranked system. We have so many guys who could help us over the line just hanging out in AAA and AA its ridiculous. U forgot to add Austin Nola and Tayron Guerrero to the DFA list

So u have soured on Telis?? What ashame few months ago u were dying to see that solid bat in the majors

I would have called up Peters and Anderson weeks ago. But i guess you're right, we should really try to limit Peters innings so he can be ready for that all important arizona fall league. He's only 60 innings shy of his total from last year, but id hate for him to take away some innings from Worley, Nicolino, and Despaigne. I think we have a real shot at the AFL title this year!!!

And I would also be perfectly fine with them DFA'ing Guerrero too. Nola wouldnt even be on most teams 40 man but there is a chance he could be claimed. I wouldnt bat an eye if they DFA'd him either. He also sucks and shouldnt be getting in the way of bringing up Peters and Anderson.

Anderson + Peters = 2, btw. not 8. close though, just off by 6 players.

I wanted Telis up here because we traded away an asset with controllable years left for him and he was hitting well in AAA. If we trade a player who is an asset and Telis is the main piece we are acquiring, we should probably have a plan for him and at least see what you have. Doesnt mean you stick with him forever because you once thought he could be a productive player. I once thought Jeremy Hermida could be a great bat too, should I have just stuck to my guns and forced him in the lineup every day for 10 years because we once thought he had a very high potential? Believe it or not, I have no problem admitting im wrong. Youll be wrong most of the time on prospects. Doesnt mean it doesnt hurt to try, especially for a team that has given lots of innings pitched and AB's to Tyler Moore, Aviles , Hech, Telis, JT Riddle, Christian Colon, Vance Worley, Justin Nicolino, Cervenka, Jeff Locke, Chris o Grady, and Tom Koehler.

Having a #30 ranked system doesnt mean guys arent capable of producing better than what is currently had at the major league level. Jarlin Garcia also was in our #30 ranked system. Productive reliever. Should we just shun any possible productive players just because we have a terrible all around farm system?

This is a moot point anyway because we need no help, we have Vance Worley and Odrisamer Despaigne!!!

              - - - - - - - - - -

Also, again, we have like 3-4 different players who are out for the year and can be 60 manned immediately. 60 man to Riddle and Volquez. There, that easy. You now have an immediate possible rotation upgrade and possible lineup upgrade rather than trotting out guys you know are not good. We wouldnt even have to lose a powerhouse like Tayron Guerrero or Austin Nola.

So I don't know what James Needy's story is but it might be time to pay attention to him down the line. Signed in June, had a 1.73 ERA in Jupiter, great first start in Jax. Looking at his career it seems like he was destined for a solid major league career before injuries or some other issue took him down. Seems like somebody who could have Koehler potential aka earning a rotation spot down the line.

Didn't realize how much Cody Poteet has bombed in August. Raised his ERA to 4.50 from 2.52 before the month. Hopefully this past start is a sign of things to come.

Speaking of guys falling off a cliff, hi Dustin Beggs. That's his 2nd 8 earned runs allowed game in his last 4 starts. Starting pitching depth in the minors has taken a bit of a hit this month.

Brady Puckett has been consistently good in Batavia. 5 IP, 2 ER or less allowed each of his last five starts. 15th round pick this past draft. Expect him in the GBoro rotation next season.

                    Puckett is in the GCL

It helps he is against easier bats but Osman Gutierrez 1BB/9K last night looks like a nice arm when he has control. Hopefully they keep him around next year could be something in 3 or 4 years.

The problem with guys like Needy is while they might look good we usually don't end up keeping them. We sign them then they end up somewhere else the following year. Hopefully with the new FO instead of signing these types we promote more aggressive from within
