Oh hi Peters welcome back. Seems to be adjusting back just fine.

Between the draft and the mariners trade and the soon to come Ramos and Straily (at the very least) trades, the front office deserves some credit for finally adding some pieces to the farm system. That could just be sort of stockholm syndrome from years of watching absolutely nothing in this system though.

Dont get your hopes up yet. They still haven't dealt AJ or Straily. They easily fuck that up.

Trust me, I have no hopes of getting good deals from those pieces with mike hill in charge, it's just nice to see actual new faces in the system and playing well. I marvel at just how bad our prospects perform. I have a friend at AA for the Red Sox and I've been following his stats and his teammates stats because of that and even guys who aren't major league talents still often times put up very good numbers. Not only do our top guys not put up great numbers a lot of the time, but we don't even have minor league fillers that put up stats without having major league potential, so much so that when guys like beggs at 24 put up respectable numbers people really think he is more than he is. Not trying to bring that topic up again, just showing that a lot of my rationale for not really thinking he is much of anything is because I see just how many guys in other systems put up really good numbers like that and no one considers them any kind of major league talent. The Marlins system is not only lacking in great top talent but even their depth consistently puts up horrific looking numbers

Disappointing the team threw Hernandez into Batavia to start (even if he's doing well in really short time so far). He's already had 100+ at bats for the Mariners short A team. I don't know if they would've had to make some roster moves, but the team should've found a way to get Hernandez starts in Greensboro for the final month of his season.

They moved Jhonny Santos up who isnt a bad prospect and is a year older. Likely seeing if he can show something now. Gboro is gonna have a very nice toolsy 20 yr OF next year-Hernandez/Jones/Cespedes

If I were the Marlins, I would completely deconstruct him.

He only had a fastball and a curveball to begin with. Drop the curveball.

Make him start throwing a cutter, sinker, splitter, and a changeup along with his 4 seam. Each game, regardless of outcome, he throws those 5 pitches, over and over, same sequence.

Let his fastball grow back in stength, and when it is back in the mid 90s, the change of speed between that and his changeup should be just as effective as a breaking pitch. Combine with a cutter that hammers low and in on lefties and the splitter for righties. Power sinker as his trouble pitch.

Keep doing the same sequence in the GCL for a few more starts and then 4 or 5 starts doing the same thing at Batavia. Spend the last month of the season at Greensboro, doing the same thing. 5 pitch sequence. Essentially a season long extended spring training.

Starts out at Greensboro next year. Spend MILB Spring Training doing the same sequence drills. At Greensboro, finally let him pitch to a called pitch. At that point, while he would probably still be erratic to some degree, he should be able to locate his pitches better, not rely on his fastball, and not have the arm stress of a breaking pitch.

If he pitches well at Greensboro, move him up to Jupiter. If not, let him finish the year there and start at Jupiter in 2019. If he does well at Greensboro and Jupiter in 2018, move him to Jacksonville in 2019.

Dustin Beggs may not make the majors until he's 27 years old, but he's proving to be a solid prospect. 3.11 ERA on the season.

Poteet's been pretty good since returning. Still doesn't strike anybody out though.

Moises Sierra also doing ok in AAA. When the team eventually moves on from Ichiro, Sierra is the logical replacement barring no notable free agent signings.
