No matter who you are, it's easy to get overwhelmed when taking in the bright lights and enormous masses of people of New York City. We just moved here this week and we've already gotten lost like 25 times. But it's a whole other deal when you're from a small town in southeast New Mexico, like left-handed pitcher Trevor Rogers, who the Marlins selected 13th overall in the Draft. Rogers' cousin, Cody Ross, played with the Marlins from 2006 - 2010 and hit 80 home runs in that stint.

Rogers is a 6-foot-6 left-hander from Carlsbad, N.M., a town situated literally in the middle of the desert. Draft day was a toasty one in NYC -- temperatures in the mid-90's -- but for Rogers that felt more like a chilly fall day. Rogers said that he once pitched in 120-degree weather, which sounds more like punishment than anything else. So yes, he should be very comfortable in Miami.

We have been on him all year. Stan Meek loves him LHP and the fact that Andrew Miller looks great in the pen this pick was easy for him. As for "reach" KC at #14 would have taken him so even tho #25 on board about 4 teams from #13-20 would have taken him

Bukauskas was never on our board-we dont take 6'0 RHP and Faedo had too many injuries/durability concerns for us(That was what reports say). Surgery on both knees and Gators wore his arm out

At best u got a #2 SP and at worst u get Andrew Miller lite in the pen. Not a fan of his age but as long as he gets to Jupiter to finish the 2018 year I don't mind-now if they do a Braxton Garrett thing with him I would get pissed

              SIGNED

              3.4 million

              (Saved $475,800)

No clue why they need the cash but nice to sign our 1st Rounder early for once. So much easier when u talk and actually agree to a deal before u pick rather than think what a guy wants and find out its alot more(Braxton Garrett).

Still confused why we picked a LOOGY,NAIA 24yr old CF and a Utility guy with no bat to save cash tho-would think we could have taken atleast some talent. Jeff is probably gonna use the extra $475,000 for ARods nephew. Give him 2 million when we could have waited and gave him $600,000

Heck ya. Cant wait to see him pitch his first game next july, pitch 4 games, need TJ surgery, miss all of 2019, then start in Greensboro in 2020. Go fish!

That extra cash could help sign one of the mid-range draft picks that want above slot. Also nice to sign a draft pick this early (I mean it has been a week). Especially as a 20-year-old lets see what he can do ASAP.
