Couple minor league transactions, dated between the 29th and the 4th:

-Signed RHP Kolton Mahoney, who has already pitched for A Greensboro. He was released by the Yankees organization on May 27. He was 1-2 with a 1.85 ERA with NY's Single-A affiliate. 24.1 IP, 7 walks, 26 Ks was his line for Charleston. He was a 16th round pick of the Yanks in 2015.

-Signed RHP James Needy out of the Independent American Association. Needy last pitched for an MLB-affliated club in 2015. He pitched for the Padres' AAA and AA clubs then. He threw only three games (three starts) for Independent Sioux City this year after not pitching in 2016. 15.1 IP, 5 walks, 20 strikeouts for Sioux City this year.

-Released OF Sleyter Soto. He started in 2015 in the DSL, playing last year with GCL. He hit .297 in 2015 and .276 in 2016. Only 12 XBH among 84 total hits across the two levels.

Still don't understand it-25 and 26 yr old for A Ball? Mahoney has decent numbers but is 25 already. Why not just promote 1 of the 6 guys u got in Extended ST. Won't hurt a guy to get some innings than go to Batavia in 2 weeks. O wait the plane ticket is probably $100 nevermind

Soto while nothing special was still 19. Would be nice to let a guy develop somewhat, its the same when we draft HS guys. Give them 3 years(would be like they were JR) if they dont show anything by 20 then release them but I dont get why we draft a guy then within a year or 2 release them to only sign some 24 yr old to help with the depth in Rookie ball?

Trevor Richards has gone 6 innings, 1 ER or less allowed in 5 of his last 6 starts. Hasn't allowed more than 2 walks in a single start all season.

Having himself a Chris Paddack style season right now in Jupiter. If he was doing this right out of high school he'd be a legitimate contender to be a top 50 prospect.

So Adam Conley isn't coming up anytime soon then...

Justin Twine OPS up to .507. Just a magnificent prospect to follow.

Why the fuck is he still in the organization? what a loser of a ball player. His career numbers are pathetic and for a team that cuts prospects all the time in favor of 27 year old minor league starters you have to wonder why the hell he hasnt been released yet.

Because they project him as a Mike Stanton type, football player who is a freak with great tools just needs AB's

In all honesty,he is still around because they paid the guy $1.3 mil so u might as well keep him around for the 6 years. I don't mind when they keep HS guys atleast 3 years(Would be a JR in college)

It's the same reason why Blake Anderson is still in the system,$1.1 million to sign and he can't get out of Rookie Ball but might as well get the money out of him so they keep him around.

2014 Worst Draft Ever-Kolek,Blake Anderson,Twine. We had the highest amount at 14.2 million and 6 of the Top 107 Picks. Brian Anderson is all we have to show for it. If a real FO had 14.2 million they would have drafted 3 #1 Picks we drafted a #1 pick and 2 guys who weren't even in the Top 300

Jeff Brigham with a nice start to his season in Jupiter. He's definitely the kind of guy who'll see a major league spot start when he's in his late 20s. Got a few years to go.
