Ellington has to be so confused about why he's in AAA. I know I am.

Not very confusing. Ellington has options and McGowan doesn't,the thought is as long as McGowan is pitching well let him stay up(plus can throw multiple innings) and then when used up we can DFA him and call Ellington back up

I would have kept Ellington and sent Wittgren down looks like Mattingly trusts Wittgren more

Transactions from last week, c/o Baseball America:

-Former Marlin minor leaguer 2B Noah Perio was signed by the Dodgers out of the American Association.

-In addition to signing P Jeremy Guthrie, the Marlins also signed OF Alex Glenn, who had been released by the A's on June 6. He was originally a 12th round pick by Arizona in 2012. Glenn had only played in three games at the A+ level in Oakland before being signed by Miami and assigned to AA Jacksonville. Through ten games, he has hit .387 with a 1.132 OPS in Jax.

The following players were released from the organization:

-P Cecil Tanner. Tanner was brought in in February as a minor league free agent. He pitched a total of seven games between Jupiter and Batavia this year, with a 15.00 ERA total.
-3B Taylor Munden. A 27th round pick in 2015, Munden played with Batavia and Greensboro this year. He hit a combined .157 in 83 at-bats after hitting only .219 last year at two levels.
-OF Alex Fernandez, Jr. He played at three levels in 2015, doing most of his work in Batavia, where he hit .277 with three homers and 14 RBIs. This year, he split time with Batavia and Greensboro. He combined to hit under .200. He has already been signed by the Tigers organization and is on their GCL club's roster.

Marlins minors so stacked we gotta make room I love how instead of trying guys in other spots they just release them(Talking about Lyman and Pineyro)

Released: RHP Octavio Arroyo, RHP Scott Lyman, RHP Ivan Pineyro, LHP Connor Bach, LHP Justin Langley

Traded: LHP Tim Berry to Padres and OF Brady Shoemaker to White Sox for cash(Jeff needed a painting)

If you want to this last years first rounder is untouchable based on everything he's done to date since being drafted, thats one thing. But to say his futures game performance makes him untouchable is an entirely new level of stupidity.

Naylor has been fairly disappointing this season to me. He reminds me of Colin Moran's time here where he's done absolutely nothing to stand out. IF naylor was drafted in the 15th round he would be another guy on that greensboro team. He's in a hitters paradise and has a .734 OPS, granted he has shown some power and is young.

But even his peak is very limited because of is defensive limitations. To say he is untouchable after seeing him in one game is one of the most mindbogglingly stupid things I've ever seen. He needs to be fired/

Josh Naylor stabs the bat out and slices a single to center to score Eloy Jimenez

Also not as "untouchable" as u think-Brewers were talking Jeremy Jeffress with us before we got Rodney and name brought up was Josh Stabbor. They decided in the end to go with the vet who has better numbers in Rodney tho. Plus Jeffress is on Strike 2 already which means one more and he gone

Fish where do u see that Frisaro said he was "untouchable"?? His tweet said

the #Marlins have no untouchable prospects but after seeing Naylor in #FuturesGame I would hesitate trading him for a starter

He said we have NO untouchable guys, which makes sense cause they were floating his name out especially to AL teams. The hesitate part has to do more with trading him for a #5 starter like some of the names we are looking at. If Oakland called and wanted him in a deal for Sonny Gray of course he would be gone BUT if called on him for Rich Hill u would be hell NO. If u can get a guy that is cheap/club controlled of course u trade him-power guy who will be a 1B/DH only. As seen by us getting Bour, they aren't as rare as people think

Jeffress has only had problems with pot, right? Don't they not test that in the majors, only the minors?

Definitely would have made that trade instead. Less of a prospect for a good youngish RP that'd have 3 years of club control.

Gammons reported they wanted Paddack AND 2 more prospects. Ya pot but already has 2 and our luck would pick up #3 somehow. Marlins are steering clear of any guys with drug issues it seems. After the Kolby Copeland thing a few years ago they pretty much avoided guys with issues(Pot/PED). Delvin Perez was high on the list this year and he failed test and took him right off the board
