Catching up on some Marlins minor league transactions from the end of May to early June:

-RHP Victor Delgado was signed, late of the Phillies, by whom he was released on March 16. He pitched three games for full-season A last year, but spent the rest of the year (pitching 17 games) in the GCL.

-Among those released by the Marlins: C Maxx Tissenbaum, who hit .219 in 32 at-bats for Greensboro this year, with one homer and seven RBIs.
-P Ryan Reid was cut from Jupiter. He had four saves in six games, with two walks and four strikeouts in 8.2 innings, with a 1.04 ERA.
-LHP Jose Jose was released. He had pitched for Jacksonville and Jupiter this year, managing to sport a 12.54 ERA combined in those two spots in 15 games. He did walk seven and strike out 23 in 18.2 innings, though.
-1B Dan Black was also released. He hit .214 in 84 at-bats in New Orleans this season. He has already hooked up with a Mexican League team.

Chris Reed has been really good in New Orleans. Take away one bad start and he would have a 0.90 ERA in 30 IP. 2.65 ERA with the bad start. Might be a bullpen option at the major league level soon (he won't start in the majors).

Dillon Peters dealing with something similar. Gave up 6 ER recently and has recovered by giving up just 2 ER in his last two starts total. 6 K's in 5 IP is also good to see. Definitely expect Peters in Jax before the season is done, where it'll be fun to see a rotation with both Brice and Peters.

Castillo apparently being managed tightly. Only pitched 4 innings despite throwing just 51 pitches and allowing just 4 hits. Rain delay aside he pitched well.

Seymour now an .933 OPS in June. He still sucks on the season though.

Reed was close to joining the Dodgers rotation in 14 when things fell apart. Really intrigued by him, not entirely sure I would write him off as a starter.

They started him in Extended ST actually so likely Benedict got his hands on him.

Mader was pretty bad his last two starts. Good to see him back on track.

Poteet with a 2.48 ERA in GBoro. Having been drafted out of college it shouldn't be long until he sees Jupiter.

I was disappointed to find out that Chris Hoo in Jupiter plays catcher and not first base. Can't make the easy "Hoo's on first" joke.

Romero is the most disappointing prospect. His biggest asset (plus hit tool) isn't even there anymore.

Mader rocks stirrups. Makes me a fan.

Random but looking back at our draft last year we seem to have done alright judging by early performances.

Naylor hasn't lit the world on fire but he's been pretty good. Lilek has had a bad year but he was good last year. White was good last year. Cody poteet has been very good for Greensboro. Chris Paddock has been great for Greensboro in a few starts. At least some players that have a hint of potential unlike many of the recent drafts.

Chris Paddack wow. Gotta love that. It's incredibly early in his progression but there's so much positive to take from his performance so far. 31 strikeouts to 2 walks in just 18 IP. Definitely the Marlins prospect to follow now.

Last week's Marlins minor league transactions:

-Signed was RHP Brody Greer out of Evansville of the Frontier League. A 25 year-old, he pitched for Kane County, a Diamondbacks affiliate, earlier in the year where he compiled a 6.23 ERA in six games. In the Frontier League, he had an 8.10 ERA in seven games.
-LHP Connor Bach was also signed, late of the Nationals organization by whom he was released on June 1. He had a 7.30 ERA in five games pitched for Hagerstown in A-ball this year. On the plus side, he was 6-4 with a 3.86 ERA last year for Hagerstown, with 69 walks and 106 strikeouts in 110 innings.

-RHP Victor Araujo was released. He pitched for Jacksonville and Jupiter this year, going a combined 1-2 with a 4.91 ERA in 22 innings.

Surprised they release Araujo. He's only 23 years old and did well in Jupiter last year. Not saying he's a future MLB reliever but there's worse guys (who are also older) still in the system.
