Barraclough not being on the big league squad makes no sense.

So Ben Holmes puts up a 2.92 ERA in Jupiter last season after struggling in Greensboro, finally finds his stride...and he gets sent back down to Greensboro this year.

      Why?

Was at the Suns game yesterday.

        Pineda is fast af.

Berg has that team running a lot, lots of heads up plays as well.

Dean only had the one hit but he looks good at the plate. Had some very nice swings. I like him.

Dean could be a solid 4th OF. As for the team running alot-that is what happens when u have 2 guys that stole 60+ bases LY. Tons of speed on that team

Bearclaw sent to AAA has already been said. They wanted him to work on mechanics and Mattingly wanted a "vet" in the pen so they went with McGowan. Guess he doesn't consider Morris/Dunn/Breslow/Narveson/Jackson/Phelps vets but whatever. Seriously tho alot of the pitching assignments were weird-they chose to keep older guys and send younger ones down a level.

The minor league assignments this year are likely because the system is being run by DelPiano now.

It's pretty common to see huge variances in assignments when a new person takes over.

He won't be there long if he keeps this command up.

He walked 8 in 6.2 spring innings, he wasn't keeping a job doing that.

They're using him in multi-inning roles so he can work on his command and get more innings more quickly. He'll be up by May 1 at the latest if he keeps this up.

I guess that makes sense. He was pretty dominant last year even despite his wildness, 11.1 K/9, .154 BAA. Hard to believe that wasn't good enough to make the squad even despite his ST performance. Hopefully it's the right call and he works out the wildness in AAA, because if he cuts down on the walks I think he could be a back of the bullpen type guy, and with the way Ramos has looked so far, we may be looking for one pretty soon.

Ya I know it is which has people scratching their heads. Delpiano is running it pretty much the same as the last group-not pushing guys/letting them look great against lesser competition. No reason why u have 24 yr old arms in Low A ball-move him up and lets see how he can do. It is whatever tho,the season has started and hopefully they will start changing it up more going foward

                      - - - - - - - - - -

As for Bearclaw he was sent down for mechanics even tho the excuse to keep Narveson and McGowan instead of Ege and Bearclaw or Ellington was pretty shitty.

ESPN kept mentioning they were in the pen because of how young the pen is. Now here are the ages of the guys in our pen

35,32,29,29,29,34,34. There is NOTHING young about the pen(can't really fault ESPN tho since they don't care about the Fish anyways)but the excuse that they needed veteran arms is just some BS. But Narveson is prolly DFA when Dunn gets off the DL and might as well squeeze innings out of McGowan at the beginning of the year.

Dunn suffered a setback, so if past Marlins history holds...he'll never pitch for the team again.

So Nicolino with 6 IP 2 ER and 6 IP 1 ER in his first two starts. I honestly don't mind if Chen needs to go on the 15 day DL because I think Nicolino would ultimately do well in the rotation.

Brian Anderson hitting well to start in Jupiter. 6 hits in 18 AB's. He's just 22 so it's likely the bad season in Jupiter last year was a wake up call for him.

Woods with his first good game in Jupiter.

Naylor with multi-hit games in two of his last three. Hopefully a start to an eventual tear to open the season. We definitely need Naylor to have a star season if we want to salvage the farm even a little.

0-4 today for Naylor but he is the 4th Youngest guy in the SAL. Talking about Gboro-Isael Soto is back on the DL

Woods just needs NOT to stink and he will be OK. Jupiter is where our bats either go to die so long as he shows some pop and gets reps they will probably be happy.

As for Anderson,it looks like they still are having him be the 3B of the Future since they moved Schales to 2B. The wakeup call was them leaving him in Jupiter and going with nothing at 3B in Jax

The system is really really bad tho
