They liked him in the 4th round but didn't draft him in 6-7 rounds after that?

It is a new draft-if he won't take 400K in the 4th Rd then why would u waste the pool money to draft him later when slot is even less?

U seem to not understand how this works-they give u an amount u can spend and then u draft guys who will fit into that amount. If someone calls u and says we want to take u in the 4th Rd-Will u take slot?. U say no and that is the end of it. Gone are the days of u said NO but we will draft u anyways. If u don't sign a guy in the Top 10 Rds u lose that cash(This is why we took McKay in Rd 11 instead of Rd 10-if he didnt sign then we would have lost that cash)

Cubs had a pick earlier than the marlins in round 11 too so what you're saying doesn't add up.

What doesn't add up? If the Cubs called him in the 4th Rd and said we will give u a bonus of slot which he said NO. Then why the hell would they take him in Rd 5-11-if he wouldn't take slot in Round 4?

Why do u think we picked McKay in Round 11? It is because if we didn't sign him we would have not lost anything. If we took him in Round 7 and he didn't sign then we would have lost 200K

If the Cubs would have picked him in Round 7 and he didn't sign because he wanted more cash then they would lose Round 7 pool money. If the Cubs would have picked him in Round 11 he still would have wanted cash. What u think guys fall in the draft because of talent? Hell NO its mostly cause of price-if Daz Cameron didn't tell teams he wanted 5 million the Marlins would have picked him at #12 but when a guy says I want this amount teams don't take chances in the Top 10 anymore.

Because it's an 11th round pick. If they liked the guy enough they would have drafted him and tried to sign him as it doesn't affect their draft pool money. He may still want the cash but you see how much he actually wants to play ball at that point. And what you've saying is the Marlins saved an over $400k in addition to the other picks that have or will sign for over slot. And that the Cubs are spending ~$4 million on all picks besides their first one but liked this guy but couldn't fit him in,

Does anything prevent teams from supplying other tangibles such as an undergraduate/graduate education, car, etc to a pick in addition to signing bonus? Or signing a contract that says they're salary will be significantly higher than other players at that league so say $50k at a level other players make $10k? I mean there are plenty of ways that can incentivize signing someone that don't involve a signing bonus which is all I ever see mentioned about the rules.

If u take a guy after Round 10 and he wants more than 100K then u have to ADD that cash to the bonus pool. If the Cubs wanted McKay in Round 11 and he wanted 400K to sign that means that they are charged that amount to the pool. Now I have no clue about the Cubs but will say they probably didn't have the extra 400K to sign him

What I am saying is the Marlins prolly saved 1 million dollars(Naylor pick) which lets them play with 1 mil to sign McKay/Peace and others.

U can draft a guy in Round 37 and if u sign him for 1 million then u have to get that 1 million from somewhere in your draft pool. If u draft guys in Round 5 and 9 and they Both DO NOT SIGN-that means u just lost that slot money. U dont get to use that cash elsewhere which is why u see teams drafting college seniors and signing them for 5K

                            For what?

I know what you're saying in you're previous post but I already understand how the bonus pool works and you said nothing beyond that. If the cubs were just picking guys that would sign for under 100k at that point cause they don't have draft pool money sure it makes sense but if there is any uncertainty and you actually like the guy enough to be your forth pick it's dumb not to draft him when you're only drafting more filler-type guys.

Knowing what he signed for tells us a lot here.
