strong Cape Cod League but didn't follow it up this season

big frame, lots of deception, interesting arm slot, may be lefty specialist, stuff isn't great but has 3 pitches per Mayo

Callis likes him as a starter. 6'6, throws from a lower slot

Classic Marlins Pick. Love the big LHP

Dillon Tate may have understandably generated most of the Draft buzz at Santa Barbara, but scouts who came to check him out on Friday may have stuck around to watch Jacome take the ball on Saturday. A very strong showing in the Cape Cod League had many interested in the big left-hander, though he hasn't been quite as effective this spring. At his best, Jacome shows strong pitchability without big stuff. He'll pitch with an average fastball, at best, though some hope that his 6-foot-6 frame can handle some added strength which will lead to a few more ticks on the radar gun. His slider works and he has a decent feel for his changeup. He knows how to mix his pitches and move the ball in and out to keep hitters off-balance. Most agree that for Jacome to start, he's going to have to show improved stuff. But his feel for pitching, along with his angle and deception, could serve him well should he end up in the bullpen.
