Decent line for Conley. I'm certainly glad they didn't call him up to waste an option and sit in the bullpen all night.

Cox has a .951 OPS after .746 OPS in April. Can someone tell me why a 26 year old getting on base at a .394 clip is in AA?

They've probably all but given up on him at this point. But again, this was an organization that moved Jensen, Barnes, and Canha through the system very slowly.

Cox had all 344 PA in AAA last year and had an OPS of .780. Want to know the best part? Thirty year old Scott Sizemore is the AAA third baseman blocking him and he's got an OPS of .608 in his 123 PA thus far.

Wow, we've only had ONE! position player in AA all year under the age of 25. Even though they're the oldest team in the league by far, they still are second to last in runs and OPS.

Getting our minor league pitchers accustomed to not having a shitty offense and no run support, I guess.

An option has already been wasted. He was optioned down in Spring Training.

Regardless of the option already being used, it's still a waste to have him sit in the bullpen to maybe pitch 3 innings and miss his start.

Bored and looking at the system right now and these guys stood out: (only looked at guys who have a decent amount of time at one level this year 20 IP or 90 PA)

• Brian Ellington (AA reliever) is K-ing every 4th guy he faces and has cut his BB% to just under 6%. The K's have been pretty constant throughout his career; the walks have not. He's already 24 but if he keeps those K and BB rates up he could be a nice arm in the pen. His FIP is currently at 2.23. He hasn't been leaving enough guys on base (54.2%) so ERA (4.35) is higher. But his BABIP is .310 so if he keeps his BB% at this level everything should be sustainable with ERA dropping as LOB% normalizes.
• Chris Hoo (A+ catcher) has equal K and BB rates (12.3%). His ISO is awful (.023). But he could be a guy to watch.
• Tyler Bremer (A+ reliever) has great K and BB rates, 29.6% and 4.6% respectively. He is already 25 and needs to be called up to AA soon if he keeps doing this.
• Luis Castillo (A reliever) again good K and BB rates, 25.3% and 6.3% respectively. Another case of the FO having a guy repeat levels but he's more age appropriate at 22. The arms brought back in the McGehee trade are pretty good. (This is exactly why I want to sell if we continue doing awful cause the system depth sucks and a good bullpen arm in 3 years is still worth more than Haren as the 5th starter this year.)
• Joshua Hodges (A reliever) has good K rate (29.2%) and decent BB rate (7.9%). Another case of the FO mismanaging players development; he started 2014 as a starter in Jupiter and then was sent to Batavia to be a reliever. His walks have gone down and strikeouts have gone up since working out of the pen.
• K.J. Woods (A DH/OF) is killing the ball (.922 OPS) but strikes out way too much (27.3%). Walk rate is way up this year (15.2%) and it'll be nice to see him sustain that. His BABIP is way too high at .463.
• Austen Smith (A 1B) is having a nice season with an OPS of .897. His K and BB rates are both up about 6 points from last year sitting at 16.3% and 27.4% respectively. Unlike Woods, Smith's performance is probably sustainable (.318 BABIP) but expect a drop in his ISO (.243) when he leaves Greensboro.

In conclusion, boy does the minor league system suck.
