Soto, a native of the Dominican Republic, signed with the Marlins in 2013 and made his professional debut in the Gulf Coast League the next year. Despite his youth, he ranked second in the league with seven home runs.
Listed at 6-feet, 190 pounds, Soto isn't physically imposing, instead creating his power with his bat speed. Like many young hitters, he has an aggressive approach at the plate that leads to a fair amount of swing-and-miss. His short, compact swing gives him a chance to hit for a decent average if he's able to temper his approach as he matures.
Soto's upside is significant, and he has the potential to develop into a prototypical corner outfielder. But he'll play the whole 2015 season as an 18-year-old and remains a long way from the Major Leagues.

14) Isael Soto, OF, Grade C/Borderline C+: Age 18, hit .251/.302/.426 with seven homers in GCL last year at age 17, jumping to US without any experience in Dominican Summer League, signed for $310,000 in 2013. Power played well in the big spring training parks, certainly a nice sign. Swing draws praise, strong arm, speed decent, needs tighter strike zone but he performed well considering the circumstances and the tools are intriguing.
