Matt Pope, also a righty, went to the Miami Marlins in the 39th round. Pope was a 38th-round draftee of the Pittsburgh Pirates out of high school in 2012, but did not sign.

Pope, also a graduate of Science Hill, was selected in the 39th round – No. 1157 overall – by the Miami Marlins. Matt appeared in 13 games this season, allowing 15 runs – 11 earned – on 17 hits while fanning 15 batters and walking seven in 16.1 innings worked.
