    Started all four years at 'Bama. Career OPS of .813, 21 HR, 146 RBI, 90 BB, 176 Ks. Picked in the 48th round by the Mets out of high school.

      Alabama senior first baseman Austen Smith was selected in the 33rd round of the 2014 First-Year Major League Baseball Draft by the Miami Marlins.

      The Pensacola, Fla., native finished his senior season at Alabama with a team-high .316 batting average, while tying for the team lead with 39 RBI. Smith, who was a Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List honoree, posted a team-high .487 slugging percentage, that included six home runs and 14 doubles (second on the team). He also led the 2014 Tide with a .426 on base percentage with a team-high 29 walks and he was hit by a pitch 13 times.

      Smith was a four-year starter for the Crimson Tide, playing in a total of 226 games with 215 as a starter. The 226 games played rank tied for seventh in program history, while the 215 starts are tied for the sixth most in program history. A career .285 hitter, Smith collected a 211 total hits, with 47 doubles, five triples, 21 home runs and 146 RBI while at the Capstone. The 47 career doubles are tied for 10th all-time at Alabama.

      Smith also finished his career with the Tide with 1,693 putouts to pass Jeremy Brown for the most putouts in school history. Smith also finished second all-time in program history with 1,783 chances defensively.
