In Friday’s edition of “What Scouts are Saying,” Baseball Prospectus quoted one evaluator on 2013 Miami Marlins’ first-round pick Colin Moran. The review started well enough with the scout relaying how Moran plays like a big leaguer. It then took a sharp turn, and not in a favorable direction.
The full quote: “Colin Moran plays like a big leaguer down on a rehab assignment. He has no range at [third base] and will have to move to first. I could see him becoming Garrett Jones."
With all due respect to Jones, the Marlins are looking for a little more upside from last season’s sixth overall pick.
Still way to early to fret. Moran so far is having a great June, logging a .352/.368/.556 slash line with five doubles and two homers in 52 at-bats through Thursday. For the season, Moran is slashing .292/.330/.406.Originally posted by Madman81Most of the people in the world being dumb is not a requirement for you to be among their ranks.

Moran: .348/.478/.557/1.035 60/22 BB/k
We're talking nearly 300 points of difference in SLG.
I still like the pick (cuz yah college 3b bat) and not trying to discredit it (yah more power as he gets older yah) just crazy those number differences.
