The Jacksonville Suns defeated host Montgomery 7-3 on Sunday and moved into a tie for first place in the Southern League’s South Division.
It was the Suns’ fourth consecutive victory.
Both teams are 34-29 in the second-half standings.
Down 3-2 in the top of the sixth inning, Jacksonville scored four runs to seize control. Jose Duarte’s two-run single was the key blow. He finished with three RBI.
Ben Lasater and Kyle Jensen had two hits each for the Suns. Lasater hit a solo home run in the ninth.
Winner Graham Taylor (9-10) gave up nine hits in five innings.
Jacksonville can take sole possession of first when the teams meet at 8:05 p.m. today in the fourth game of the five-game series.
Right-hander Brian Evans (5-8, 4.86) is scheduled to start for the Suns.
