But first! One signing and a slew of releases, c/o Baseball America:
-OF Dustin Fowler was signed. He arrives with Miami from the Pirates organization, where he was released by AAA Indianapolis August 7th. He hit .270 with three homers in 37 at-bats before his release. He had 25 homers as recently as 2019 in AAA. He's with AAA Jacksonville.
Releases include:
-RHP Jose Bazan: He was signed in July 2019, presumably as an international free agent, out of Panama, but had not appeared in a game at any level.
-RHP Tyler Stevens: Stevens has been in the organization since 2019 and pitched at AA this year. He compiled a 3.41 ERA in 23 games with 37 Ks in 31.2 innings.
-LHP Juan Caba: Like Bazan, Caba was signed in 2019 (in September), but had not pitched in the organization.
-LHP Erik Cha: Cha was just signed July 15, not lasting a month. He pitched in three games with Beloit, sporting a 7.71 ERA and six walks in 2.1 innings.
-LHP Eric Stout: Signed and assigned to AAA Jacksonville in early June, Stout had a 10.19 ERA in seven games (four started), with 18 walks in 17.2 innings.
-C Brhayan Campos: Signed out of Venezuela in April 2017, Campos spent '17 and '18 with the DSL team. He didn't play in 2019 (or 2020 of course), and hit .143 in 28 Rookie league at-bats this season.
-C Casey Combs: One of the few Marlins draft picks to be let go during this round of cuts, Combs was a 27th round selection in 2019. He hit .222 in 27 GCL at-bats in '19. He played in just two games, for Jupiter, this season.
-C Thomas Rowan: A 20th round pick of the Fish in 2019, Rowan hit just .100 in 60 at-bats at Jupiter this year, with one home run, 10 walks, and 22 strikeouts.
-OF Jandel Paulino: A signee out of the Dominican in 2017, Paulino hit over .300 with DSL in 2019, walking 36 times and striking out 59 times in 247 at-bats. This season, he hit .360 in Rookie ball with two homers and seven RBIs in 11 games.
