dating back to conine's last year in Toronto playing minor league games in 2019, he has played 161 games, has 51 hr's, 135 rbi's, and 88 walks in 595 ab's. He seems like a sure bet to be a 35+ HR guy per year in the middle of our lineup if the strikeout issues don't get too bad at the big league level. we simply have nothing like him in terms of pure power in the entire organization and especially in the major league lineup right now and in the near future. To get him for a shitty player in Villar is a major steal. Him using ritalin and getting suspended might be a huge benefit to us but I cant understand why the jays gave him up in that deal when we all knew what villar was.

      Fangraphs notes on Dax Fulton:

      Notes
Fulton’s average fastball velocity has climbed three ticks since his first start, and he’s now sitting 93 and topping out at 96 rather than sitting 90 and peaking at 93. I’ve moved him into the 45 FV tier. If fully healthy (which he appears to be now), Fulton just goes in the middle of his draft’s first round, comparable to Andrew Painter in terms of skill and size, rather than falling because of a looming TJ rehab. The risk associated with Fulton and fellow fireballing fawn Eury Perez is roughly the same, in my mind, as the risk that the hit tools of whiff-prone sluggers (like Peyton Burdick in this system) bottom out.

Some recent Marlins minor league signings - some of these are from BA some I had to hunt down myself:

-RHP Bryan Mitchell: He was picked up after being released from Philly's AAA squad. He had a 6.04 ERA in 20 games for Lehigh Valley. He does have some MLB experience as well. At 30 years old, he was a 2009 16th round pick of the Yankees.
-LHP Jared Pettitte: The son of Derek Jeter's former Yankee teammate Andy Pettitte, Jared was signed as an NDFA out of Dallas Baptist. With Dallas and the University of Houston before that combined, Pettitte compiled a total ERA of 6.29 and was not on Baseball America's Top 500 Draft Prospects list.
-RHP Matt Pobereyko: Playing in the independents and Dominican Winter League since 2018, Pobereyko is 29 years old and is pitching for AA Pensacola.
-RHP Cody Mincey: Mincey too has pitched overseas and in the independent leagues before coming to A+ Beloit. This appears to be his first MLB-affiliated action.

        And releases...

-LHP Erik Cha: He was both signed and released since my last update - signed July 15, lasting less than a month in the organization and pitching just three games for Beloit during that time.
-C Jhon Nunez: Nunez lasted just 49 at-bats for AA Pensacola after being signed in May. He hit .204 with two homers and 7 RBIs over that span.

Good to see Eder back, pitched well, pulled early hopefully that was just the plan.

Our pitching in the minor leagues is crazy, at AAA you have Edward Cabrera and the guys who are constantly bouncing between the majors and AAA. (Neidert, Garrett, Holloway, etc.) In AA you have the 2020 Draft Class, all studs. In Low-A you have the electric teenagers (Eury Perez and Dax Fulton). Then High-A is the one place that doesn't have the big prospects, but actually all of a sudden M.D. Johnson, Antoio Velez, and George Soriano are all putting up very impressive numbers at Beloit. We gotta be able to use this depth to construct a formidable lineup through trades for 2022.

It's really unreal the pitching depth we've accumulated. I hope they trade some for 2 hitters they love but i also hope they dont completely deal all of it away. It's an overused cliche but you really cant get enough pitching and i hope they dont deal too much of it to the point where we run into trouble if some of the guys get injured.

Eder and Pablo to me are the two to capitalize on. Eder looks really good but elbow issues already concern me and if you can turn a 3rd round pick into a young major league ready bat in just a year that's a great pick. Pablo im just praying comes back and pitches well and looks healthy before the offseason. He is clearly the guy with big league experience already who i would shop aggressively. We have the depth, he has serious value as a really good, young cost controleld pitcher, and I worry that eventually these shoulder injuries turn into him needing shoulder surgery. Max Meyer to me is a guy you absoutely dont deal unless you get a sure fire bat and brandon marsh isnt that for me.

Use pablo to get a guy with a little big league experience, then deal eder and maybe 1 of the young SS's for a guy just on the cusp of the majors they like similar to the jazz deal.

Braxton garrett is another guy id deal if a team values him. The velocity dip really limits his potential to be a starter long term.

Eury perez looks like the next cabrera type guy. I wouldn't deal him unless blown away. I think given his height and his early dominance that he might become a huge prospect in a year as he continues to grow into his body. His numbers are a little misleading because that jupiter park, especially for Low A hitters, is a hitters nightmare. He hasn't allowed a single run in 6 home starts and has a 3.75 ERA on the road, but man he looks like an absolute stud. Reminds me of josh johnson.

The top 100 guys we have now (both current and former) as rotation pieces- Meyer, Eder, Cabrera, Rogers, Garrett was at one point, Sixto, Sandy was, and then I think Eury and Fulton might be on those lists before too long.

It's crazy that Braxton Garrett and Nick Neidert I think from what happened this season, we can unequivocally say that they will not feature in a further rotation after this season barring injuries, but really neither guy has been a disaster at all. Hopefully there's still some trade value in those guys.

absolutely. They are more high floor guys as opposed to high ceiling rotation pieces but its crazy that we have so many guys who have huge ceilings already that there simply is not room for them long term which is great. I think both of those guys have a fairly decent major league career. I can see neidert having an anthony desclafani type career and braxton garrett would already be in the rotation on a bunch of teams right now.

edward cabrera is major league ready. they really need to let him get some innings in miami to end the year so he can adjust and be more ready to go for next year. t

Eury perez is going to be top 100 soon. And i think it might be time for him to be up in beloit even though he is just 18. he's just overwhelming for that level

will stewart has also been decent this year and might be regaining some of the value he lost since the trade.

Yeah I liked him when we acquired him, but 2019 at Jupiter was just a disaster for him. Maybe you move him to the bullpen in AAA in 2022, you’re going to have to start moving some of these arms to the pen because there’s going to be a logjam of starting pitchers at AAA next year.

George Soriano with another great outing as well.
