E Cabrera moved up to AAA. VVM dips to Beloit. Assuming that Conine will be heading to AA soon.

J.D. Orr also moved up from Low-A all the way to AA, and had a solid debut. Re-united with college teammate Burdick.

Couple of recent minor league releases c/o Baseball America:

-SS Nick Lovullo: Lovullo was only recently signed on on May 8th, only to be released on July 6th. In 16 AA games, Lovullo hit .302 with an .845 OPS, with six walks and 13 Ks in 53 at-bats.
-OF Lorenzo Hampton: Hampton was a 28th round pick in 2019. He played briefly in Jupiter this year, as well as 16 games in Pensacola (AA). There, he hit just .154 in 52 at-bats. He hit .280 in Rookie ball in 2019, with a good BB/K ratio (24/30).

Luis Palacios, he of the absolutely absurd rookie ball numbers, who has been MIA most of the season, had a terrible first outing where he came out of the bullpen, but has started 2 games since then and been fantastic in both. It'll be interesting to see what he does the rest of the season.

jj bleday's numbers as a whole are obviously still disappointing but I still feel like he breaks out in a major way before the end of the year. His K/BB ratio for the year as a whole is just too indicative of a guy who has the talent at the plate and its just a matter of adjusting to the level, learning how to be aggressive when he gets pitches to hit, and starting to square balls up more consistently.

In May he hit .141 with a 30/17 K/BB ratio, obviously bad numbers but still relatively impressive plate awareness to still have 17 walks in 85 ab's with that poor of an average and OPS.
In june he started off on fire but then cooled off so overall he hit just .234 with a .704 OPS but clearly made some sort of adjustment in his aggressiveness since he has 94 ab's and both walks and K's cratered as he had a 17/9 K/BB ratio in 9 more ab's that the previous month. his k% and bb% both dropped a lot and he was starting to make a lot more contact and get aggressive in his ab's instead of solely working counts and letting the pitcher dictate everything.
Now in half a month in June, albeit in a small sample, he has combined the 2 and the plate discipline has gotten even better while squaring balls up better. 7/10 K/BB ratio in 47 ab's. best K% in a month and best bb% in a month and the OPS for these first 16 days is over .800.

Im obviously optimistic but I see him continuing to show impressive plate discipline while figuring out how to balance the good eye with being aggressive when he gets pitches to hit. Im still very high on his future, although the timeline might be delayed from what we thought at the beginning of the year.

We are 3 months into the minor league year and it still bothers me that jupiter is not our A+ affiliate. That's gonna take all year to adjust to. Same thing with jaxsonville not being AA.

The most discouraging thing to me about Bleday is the lack of power.

Another great start for Eder. Him Meyer and Caberea in one minor league rotation is unfair. At what point do we promote each of them. At the very least edward cabrera is deserving of a promotion to AAA if not MLB for a 2 month debut to show what he has for next year.

Meyer and Eder id prefer to see in AAA for the rest of the year since their walk numbers have been a little higher than Cabrera, although it is super encouraging when guys who still walk a decent amount of guys still can avoid being knocked around a lot. It's indicative of overpowering major league level stuff that still gets outs when they don't have their best stuff.

I think those 3 guys combined with sixto coming back next year makes 1 of the current rotation arms expendable in a deal for another prospect bat similar to the Gallen jazz deal.

just with the way the numbers are trending, id be surprised if he doesn't figure it out and start hitting for some power to close the year. To me, in watching him from afar, he seems to be trying to find the right balance in his game and find the balance between having a good eye and being able to effectively get deep into counts with being aggressive early in counts when he gets pitches to hit. We've seen the legit power even in spring training, I don't think there is any question the power is there, just a matter of time before he figures out the right balance in his game to become the best player he can be with his different skillsets. He's gotten better every month and I think we underestimate adjusting to a new level let alone doing so after an entire year of no real game action. If his numbers continue to be middling with no signs of improvement come the end of the year then we have a new discussion, but I'm going to be patient for the remainder of the year and see where we end up in September. Id be surprised. if he doesn't get to around a .750 OPS or so with 15 hr's and good OBP and K/BB ratio

I was at the game live yesterday. I'm not sure what his profile is in terms of his pitches, but he was throwing mostly offspeed stuff; I'm not sure he ever cranked it up to 90. I think his fastest pitch might have been 88 mph. Most of his stuff was 82-84.
