He's 8-0, 1.29 ERA, 3/1 K/BB ratio, was an All-Star this year. He's also going to turn 24 in 2 weeks. He was a UDFA but still...seems like a promotion would be in order

In a bullpen full of set-up guys, no one has been better than right-hander Kevin Cravey.

Cravey is 10-0 with a 1.09 ERA and five saves in 30 games this season. He leads the team in wins, and he’s been at his best in the second half of the season since missing the South Atlantic League All-Star game with shoulder tendinitis.

Cravey has given up just one earned run since May. He has a 0.42 ERA and has held opposing hitters to a .116 batting average since coming off the disabled list in July.

Cravey turned 25 this month. That’s old for a Sally Leaguer, but his route to pro baseball hasn’t been ordinary.

He pitched for Texas A&M in 2008 but had elbow surgery for a bone spur after the season. He didn’t pitch for the Aggies in 2009 or ’10, focusing instead on earning his degree in mechanical engineering.

But Cravey got the itch to pitch again, and the Marlins signed him as an undrafted free agent in June of 2010 – finding him at a scouting bureau tryout camp in Oklahoma.
