  • Marlins Promote Hassey to New Orleans

From our buddy Juan C. Rodriguez:

For those of you who missed it, ex-big league catcher Ron Hassey, who managed Jupiter last season, is moving up to Triple-A New Orleans…

This will be the fourth club Hassey will manage in the Marlins system. He was the Double-A Mudcats manager in 2004 before serving as the the Seattle Mariners' bench coach in 2005 and 2006. After a three-year hiatus from baseball he was named the manager of the High-A Jupiter Hammerheads and managed them in 2010 and 2011.
Joining the 58-year-old Hassey will be pitching coach Charlie Corbell and hitting coach Damon Minor. Both Corbell and Minor were in New Orleans in 2011. Athletic trainier Dustin Luepker will be promoted from Double-A Jacksonville to round out the Zephyrs staff.

Good for Luepker. He's a good guy, deserves it.
