The Florida Marlins drafted Goddard High School second baseman Christopher Nunez in the 48th round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft Wednesday with the 1453rd overall pick on day three of the draft.

Nunez batted .464 and slugged .929 with 10 home runs and 46 RBIs during his senior season for the Rockets, according to the Roswell Daily Record.

The son of head coach Steve Nunez, Christopher and the Rockets played in Carlsbad twice this past season. Goddard swept the series with wins of 7-3 and 18-14.
