Marlins Acquire Negrych from Pirates

[Miamarlin21]

The Florida Marlins have acquired infielder Jim Negrych from the Pittsburgh Pirates for catcher Carlos Paulino.


Never heard of either. The 21-year-old Paulino apparently hit .184 for Low-A Greensboro last year. Negrych hit .283 in Triple-A last year and can play multiple infield positions.

Also, we got him because the Pirates wanted to send him back to AA despite spending a good chunk in AAA last season and he told them he wouldn't go.

A few days ago, Jim Negrych, the Pitt product and Pirates infield farmhand, spoke publicly about not wanting to go back to Class AA and, if he wasn't a solid piece of the Class AAA roster, he wanted out of the organization.
