The Florida Marlins have placed right-handed pitcher Jay Buente on the 7-day disabled list with a strained right shoulder. Buente, who received his first big league call up earlier this year, started for Double-A Jacksonville last night and gave up four earned runs and walked three in a third of a inning. Left-handed pitcher Andrew Loomis has been called up from High-A Jupiter to replace Buente on the Suns' 24-man roster.
