Lavalli could also have a shot at the being selected. He led the High Desert with 14 home runs, helped the Cougars to Desert Sky League title and grabbed some attention at several tournaments and showcases last summer.
"There's been a few phone calls," Lavalli said. "Yea, I feel good. I feel pretty confident."

With just about two weeks remaining before the MLB 2010 First-Year Player Draft on June 7, Granite Hills’ Cody Lavalli only has a few more opportunities to make a final impression on pro scouts.
If Granite Hills’ CIF-Southern Section Division 4 first-round playoff game was one of Lavalli’s last in a Cougars’ uniform, then he certainly went out on a high note.
Lavalli went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs and six RBIs to lead Granite Hills to a 15-2 thumping of visiting Anaheim on Friday afternoon.
“Cody’s been locked in pretty much all year,” Cougars coach Tyler Scurlock said. “He’s gone through a little bit of a slump, for him, in the middle of the season, but he got it on late.
“And you see what can happen when Cody’s on.”
The Anaheim pitching staff witnessed Lavalli’s destructive capabilities and now probably could be called on to argue the case for his draft potential to any unconvinced scout.
In the first inning with his team down 2-1, Lavalli ripped an RBI double into the left-center field gap to tie the score.
Then after the Cougars escaped a bases loaded scare in the top of the second, Lavalli crushed a pitch for a two-run home run.
Those two hits alone would have been enough of a statement for the couple of scouts who were in attendance, but Lavalli wasn’t done. He slugged one more homer — this time a three-run blast — in the third inning to cap a seven run inning for the Cougars.
At that point, Granite Hills led 13-2 with Lavalli accounting for more than half of the offense.
“I was locked in,” said Lavalli, who added that the Florida Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals are among the teams that have expressed interest in him.
Lavalli — who has 14 home runs on the year — wasn’t the only Granite Hills hitter who enjoyed a big day at the plate.Originally posted by Madman81Most of the people in the world being dumb is not a requirement for you to be among their ranks.
