Tampa has a budget like ours however there owners have no problems spending cash in the draft while Loria tells Benifest to stick to guys that will sign for slot or cheaper

Our way sucks. We don't offer our free-agents arbitration in fear they except so we don't get picks for them. We never sign high upside foreign players or free agents, then we have no draft budget. When we do get those high upside players its because we are trading our superstars or all-stars.


I had hoped they learned from last yr mistake but guess not. To make matters worse the Rays are having an amazing draft again and the Braves, Phillies, Nationals are plucking good players left and right.

I'm leaving in about 15 minutes, someone needs to keep making draft pick threads. Whoever does it please make sure that they're in order (ie you don't make a thread for the 20th round when there hasn't been one for the 19th rounder yet) because the forum is set to sort it by creation time and then it'll be all out of whack

Weak draft for the Fish

We got a few HS bats(Yelich,Realmuto,Toles) and arms(Brice,LeBlanc) and like always heavy on the college arms(Rasmussen,Varner,Morey,Oakes,Dayton)

Nice to see us draft a few bats tho(Canha,Senne,Wooster,Dewitt)

Rounds 30-50 we will hopefully draft 2 or 3 HS guys that we can sign and add a few more JC/CC guys

I personally know Alex "ChiChi" Gonzalez and Adaric Kelly who were drafted in the 11th and 29th rounds, respectively.

It has nothing to do with the names and everything to do with drafting players just to draft them. Skipping potential prep players for college seniors who will sign for next to nothing year after year after year is going to hurt at some point. Its the reason the depth and talent in the system is at an extreme low right now.

And no, I had no problem with Morrison. But when only 5 or 6 of you first 30 picks are high school players, you really dont have much of an opportunity to repeat that scenario.

It's funny. If we draft too many college players, Todd gets mad. If we draft too many high school players, MK7 gets mad.

It's an absolute crapshoop no matter who you draft. Calm down.
