Our pick is gonna be whoever out of the 6 or 7 takes the 1.25 mil slot

      They are
      Brett Eibner
      Brandon Workman
      Kaleb Cowart
      Steson Allie
      AJ Cole
      Aaron Sanchez
      Jesse Hahn

All are pitchers and the strategy is the same as usual, talk to guys and see who will take slot. Whoever will take the 1.25mil will be put on the board and we will choose from them.

Like AJ Cole alot too but about 0% chance he would sign for 1.25 mil and no way we take him without a contract worked out. At start of season heard he was looking at like 4 mil however he has dropped in mocks from #3 or #4 to # 24 and lower

More likely to see a college arm that signs fast and can move faster taken

If we got AJ Cole where we are at and he signed, I would be happy as hell.

Not really digging a college arm in the first round. No luck at all with that lately.

Texas A&M RHP Barret Loux possible draft target

MIAMI GARDENS With the Major League Baseball Draft a week from Monday, the Marlins are being widely linked to Texas A&M right-hander Barret Loux.

The Marlins have the 23rd pick. MLB Network will air a draft preview show June 7 starting at 6 p.m. with the first round to follow an hour later.

At least two mock drafts (ESPN.com and AOL Fanhouse) project the Marlins taking the 6-foot-5, 220-pound Loux, a junior who turned 20 on April 6. Baseball America in its latest mock draft has the Marlins taking Arkansas outfielder Brett Eibner, but draft guru Jim Callis acknowledged the Marlins' interest in the Big 12 right-hander.

Callis writes: "Florida likes drafting upside and sticking to slot [bonuses], and word is they're leaning toward college guys in 2010. Eibner and Michigan outfielder Ryan LaMarre fit the Marlins profile, and they've also have been bearing down on Texas A&M right-hander Barret Loux."

A product of Stratford High School in Houston, Loux is 10-2 with a 2.53 ERA, 32 walks and 126 strikeouts in 96 innings (15 starts). He's also allowed just 69 hits for a .196 opponents' batting average. Six of Loux's wins have come in conference play. The Tigers selected Loux out of Stratford in the 24th round in 2007, but Loux opted for college.

Loux features a low-90s fastball he commands well and a nice changeup. Reports indicate his curveball and slider require work.

The 50-round draft resumes at noon on June 8 and concludes the following day.

I would approve of this. He's got great stuff. Compared to a young AJ Burnett.
