  • Financial Proposal

I recently thought about something, it's possible to cut players in OOTP and basically, you'd "eat" their contract... so what I was thinking was how we would handle that...

    Basically I have two proposals:

    A) All at once: Basically if you have a guy with a contract of 4 years/20M and you cut him, you can absorb all 20M at once if your salary cap can afford it. Basically leaving you with a 55M cap the duration of the season...

    B) Year to Year: Instead of going all at once, you have to pay the 5M a year over the course of the 4 years. This leaves you with a 70M cap over the next few years, but you don't have to play that schlub or leave him in your system.

I'm open to any ideas though

What would be the point of cutting him then?
You know what the difference between Jeremy Lin and Tim Tebow is?... Jeremy Lin is probably a good Quarter Back.

I like A only if the limit on tradeable cap space is doubled or tripled.

I think this concept of trading cap space should be broadened. It benefits both parties tremendously and its good for the league.

High payrolls teams don't have to be torn apart to meet cap space AND the bottom feeder teams get to acquire talent for cap space they wouldn't use. It adds another economic factor to the game and another method of improving the crappy teams.

I agree and disagree, if only because I'd like to see a round or two of free agency go by with the tight cap and see what happens.

But yeah, Im obviously a fan of trading cap space.

I'm only proposing this cause I have $67M committed for next year. (Penis34 not me)

I will also be a big proponent of raising the cap at the owners' meetings.
